لمواجهة «الدعم السريع».. الجيش السوداني يعزز عسكرياً في كردفان

In an effort to confront the advance of the Rapid Support Forces in the region in recent times, the Sudanese army has deployed significant military reinforcements to the Kordofan region in the west of the country, aiming to secure the forward defenses and reach the strategic points and land routes connecting Kordofan and Darfur.

Informed sources expect that the areas separating the three states of the region will witness open confrontations in the coming days.

The Kordofan region is currently experiencing a state of cautious calm, following fierce battles that took place yesterday (Sunday) between the army forces and their supporting troops on one side, and the Rapid Support Forces on the other. The army managed to regain control of the Um Samima area located west of the city of Al-Obeid in North Kordofan, just hours after the Rapid Support Forces entered the strategic city.

Meanwhile, the movement of displacement from various localities and villages in Kordofan towards the city of Al-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan, continues in the wake of the Rapid Support Forces' attacks that targeted dozens of villages, resulting in a large number of civilian casualties.

The Sudan Doctors Network reported that a force belonging to the Rapid Support Forces launched an attack last night on the village of Hala Hamid west of the Um Qirfa area in North Kordofan, resulting in the death of 8 people, in addition to carrying out extensive looting and theft operations.

Since the outbreak of the civil war in April 2023, Kordofan has become a major theater of conflict between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, leading to a serious humanitarian crisis.

This area is currently one of the most active fronts between the two sides, due to its vital location linking Darfur and eastern Sudan, as well as ongoing military movements such as the siege of Babanusa and the takeover of Al-Foula.
