باكستان: مقتل 30 مسلحاً حاولوا التسلل من أفغانستان

The Pakistani army announced the killing of 30 militants who attempted to cross the border from Afghanistan over the past three days, following the death of 16 soldiers in a suicide attack in the border area last week.

The army stated in a statement today (Friday) that the armed forces demonstrated a high level of professionalism and thwarted a potential disaster, adding that a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was found. The statement accused India of supporting the militants, saying they "belong to the Pakistani Taliban or affiliated groups."

According to the Pakistani army's statement, the killings occurred in the North Waziristan border area, where 16 Pakistani soldiers were killed last week in a suicide attack claimed by a faction of the Pakistani Taliban.

For his part, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif praised the security forces for thwarting an infiltration attempt. His office stated in a statement, "We are determined to completely eliminate all forms of terrorism in the country." He accused India of fueling extremism in Pakistan.

The two neighboring nuclear states regularly exchange accusations of supporting armed groups operating on each other's territories.
