The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the situation as "extremely difficult." In statements to the press from Istanbul, where he arrived today (Saturday) to participate in a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, he said, "America is engaged in pressuring us, which is unfortunate." He added that the United States has supported Israeli attacks from the very beginning.
Araghchi reiterated that Tehran is ready to negotiate a peaceful solution to the nuclear program, but he repeated the demand that the war must stop first. He emphasized that the Iranian people stand behind the army and support it. He considered that his country is exercising its legitimate right to defend itself against Israel's unjust aggression.
Araghchi revealed yesterday after meeting in Geneva with the foreign ministers of the "European Troika" that there is no room for zeroing uranium enrichment, which is a condition requested by the United States, but he hinted at the possibility of offering some concessions.
The American network "NBC" quoted Araghchi as saying, "If Washington wants diplomacy and is serious about it, we were engaged with them when Israel attacked us, and they need to contact it to stop its attack." He considered that "it is up to the Americans to show their determination to negotiate or that they want to attack us."
He pointed out that Iran has concluded that American diplomacy was a cover for what Israel has done, stressing that there is currently a lack of trust with the United States.
Araghchi said, "Perhaps Washington has a plan to attack Iran and only needed negotiations as a cover," and he confirmed that a return to diplomacy is not possible until the Israeli aggression stops and the aggressor is held accountable. He mentioned that Iran has developed nuclear technology with its own capabilities and can rebuild what has been destroyed.
Regarding the current military situation in the war with Israel, Araghchi said that Iranian forces are currently targeting economic facilities in Israel after they began targeting Iran's economic facilities.
