طالب زعيم الديمقراطيين في مجلس الشيوخ الأمريكي تشاك شومر اليوم (الأربعاء) إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترمب بتقديم إحاطة سرية لجميع أعضاء مجلس الشيوخ حول الوضع بين إسرائيل وإيران، والذي أدى إلى هجمات جوية بين البلدين على مدى الأيام الماضية.
وقال شومر: «تلقينا إحاطات، وطلبت أن نحصل على إحاطة سرية لجميع أعضاء مجلس الشيوخ»، متوقعاً قبول طلبه.
في الوقت ذاته، قال وزير الدفاع الأمريكي بيت هيغسيث اليوم إن الجيش «مستعد لتنفيذ» أي قرار قد يتخذه الرئيس دونالد ترمب بشأن مسائل الحرب والسلم، لكنه رفض تأكيد الاستعداد لخيارات توجيه ضربات لإيران.
وأوضح هيغسيث أمام لجنة القوات المسلحة في مجلس الشيوخ: «إذا تم اتخاذ تلك القرارات، فإن وزارة (الدفاع) مستعدة لتنفيذها».
وعلى واقع التصعيد بين إسرائيل وإيران، أعلن السفير الأمريكي لدى إسرائيل مايك هاكابي اليوم عن تنظيم سفارته رحلات لإجلاء المواطنين الأمريكيين من إسرائيل، موضحاً إن الإجلاء سيتم عبر رحلات جوية، وعن طريق السفن السياحية بحراً.
وذكرت شبكة (سي إن إن): من المقرر نشر حاملة طائرات أمريكية ثالثة قرب إسرائيل، موضحة الولايات المتحدة تعتزم نشر حاملة الطائرات (USS Ford) بالقرب من الشرق الأوسط، الأسبوع القادم، لتكون ثالث حاملة طائرات يتم نشرها في المنطقة، منذ بدء الحرب القائمة بين إسرائيل وإيران.
وذكرت الشبكة، أن هذه الخطوة كانت مقررة منذ العام الماضي، لكن من المرجح أن تنتقل USS Ford إلى شرق البحر الأبيض المتوسط، بالقرب من إسرائيل.
من جهة أخرى، قالت منظمة مراقبة الإنترنت «نت بلوكس»، إن تحليل البيانات يظهر انقطاعاً شبه كامل لخدمات الإنترنت على مستوى إيران، مبينة إن ذلك يأتي في أعقاب سلسلة من الاضطرابات الجزئية السابقة، وفي ظل تصاعد التوترات العسكرية مع إسرائيل بعد أيام من الضربات الصاروخية والهجمات المتبادلة.
Democratic Senate leader Chuck Schumer today (Wednesday) called on President Donald Trump's administration to provide a classified briefing to all senators regarding the situation between Israel and Iran, which has led to airstrikes between the two countries over the past few days.
Schumer said, "We have received briefings, and I requested that we get a classified briefing for all senators," expecting his request to be accepted.
At the same time, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated today that the military is "ready to execute" any decision President Donald Trump may make regarding matters of war and peace, but he declined to confirm readiness for options to strike Iran.
Hegseth explained before the Senate Armed Services Committee: "If those decisions are made, the Department of Defense is ready to execute them."
In light of the escalation between Israel and Iran, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee announced today that his embassy is organizing flights to evacuate American citizens from Israel, clarifying that the evacuation will take place via air travel and by cruise ships at sea.
According to CNN: A third U.S. aircraft carrier is set to be deployed near Israel, indicating that the United States intends to deploy the USS Ford near the Middle East next week, making it the third aircraft carrier to be deployed in the region since the onset of the ongoing war between Israel and Iran.
The network reported that this move had been planned since last year, but the USS Ford is likely to move to the eastern Mediterranean, near Israel.
On another note, the internet monitoring organization "NetBlocks" stated that data analysis shows a near-total disruption of internet services across Iran, noting that this comes in the wake of a series of previous partial outages and amid rising military tensions with Israel following days of missile strikes and reciprocal attacks.
