أُصيبت مراسلة لقناة إخبارية أسترالية برصاصة مطاطية على الهواء مباشرة أثناء تغطيتها احتجاجات الهجرة يوم الأحد في وسط مدينة لوس أنجلوس.
وأظهر مقطع فيديو في قناة 9 نيوز مراسلة القناة لورين توماسي وهي تصرخ من الألم وتمسك ساقها خلال تقرير مباشر، بعد أن رفع ضابط كان يقف خلفها سلاحه وأطلق النار عليها، فأصابها بالرصاصة المطاطية.
توماسي التي لم تكن ترتدي أي ملابس واقية، ووفقاً للتقارير، قالت قناة 9 نيوز إنها «أصيبت بجرح غائر».
وقالت القناة في بيان: لورين ومصورها بخير وسيواصلان عملهما الأساسي في تغطية هذه الأحداث. ورغم تعرضها للرصاصة بشكل مباشر، لم تُصب توماسي بأذى جسيم، حيث استأنفت عملها بعد تلقي الإسعافات الأولية، مؤكدة أن حالتها الصحية مستقرة.
يذكر أن آلاف المتظاهرين احتشدوا في وسط منطقة لوس أنجلوس بولاية كاليفورنيا الأمريكية وأغلقوا الطريق السريع الرئيسي وأضرموا النار في مركبات ذاتية القيادة.
وتصاعدت التوترات في لوس أنجلوس يوم الأحد مع نزول آلاف المتظاهرين إلى الشوارع رداً على نشر الحرس الوطني في الشوارع، مما أدى إلى إغلاق طريق سريع رئيسي وإشعال النار في مركبات ذاتية القيادة في الوقت الذي استخدمت فيه قوات إنفاذ القانون المحلية الغاز المسيل للدموع والرصاص المطاطي والقنابل الصوتية للسيطرة على الحشود.
وقام بعض أفراد الشرطة بالدورية في الشوارع على ظهور الخيل بينما اصطف آخرون يرتدون معدات مكافحة الشغب خلف قوات الحرس المنتشرة لحماية المنشآت الاتحادية بما في ذلك مركز احتجاز احتجز فيه بعض المهاجرين في الأيام الأخيرة.

An Australian news channel reporter was hit by a rubber bullet live on air while covering immigration protests on Sunday in downtown Los Angeles.
A video from Channel 9 News showed the channel's reporter, Lauren Tomasi, screaming in pain and holding her leg during a live report after an officer standing behind her raised his weapon and shot her, hitting her with the rubber bullet.
Tomasi, who was not wearing any protective gear, according to reports, said that Channel 9 News, she "sustained a deep wound."
The channel stated in a statement: Lauren and her cameraman are fine and will continue their primary work covering these events. Despite being directly hit by the bullet, Tomasi was not seriously injured, as she resumed her work after receiving first aid, confirming that her health condition is stable.
It is worth mentioning that thousands of protesters gathered in downtown Los Angeles, California, blocking the main highway and setting fire to self-driving vehicles.
Tensions escalated in Los Angeles on Sunday as thousands of protesters took to the streets in response to the deployment of the National Guard, leading to the closure of a major highway and the ignition of self-driving vehicles while local law enforcement used tear gas, rubber bullets, and sound bombs to control the crowds.
Some police officers patrolled the streets on horseback while others lined up wearing riot gear behind the deployed guard forces to protect federal facilities, including a detention center where some migrants had been held in recent days.
