في الوقت الذي تواصل السلطات الأمريكية تحقيقاتها في حادثة مقتل موظفين إسرائيليين في السفارة الإسرائيلية بواشنطن تزامناً مع فعالية أقيمت في المتحف اليهودي، كشفت مصادر اليوم (الخميس) هوية منفذ الهجوم وعمله.
وأفادت المصادر بأن منفذ الهجوم إلياس رودريغيز باحث في التاريخ الشفوي لدى The HistoryMakers، الذي يُعدّ مخططات بحثية مفصلة، وسيراً ذاتية لقادة بارزين في المجتمع الأمريكي.
وأفادت المصادر بأن المنفذ وُلد ونشأ في شيكاغو إلينوي، ويحمل شهادة بكالوريوس في اللغة الإنجليزية من جامعة إلينوي في شيكاغو، وعمل قبل انضمامه إلى The HistoryMakers عام 2023 كاتب محتوى لدى شركات تجارية وغير تجارية في مجال التكنولوجيا، على المستويين الوطني والمحلي.
وذكرت المعلومات أن الشاب يستمتع بقراءة وكتابة القصص الخيالية، وحضور الموسيقى الحية، ومشاهدة الأفلام، واستكشاف أماكن جديدة، ويعيش في حي أفونديل في شيكاغو، وعمره 30 عاماً.
وقالت الشرطة الأمريكية في واشنطن إن المشتبه به في إطلاق النار صرخ «الحرية لفلسطين» أثناء إلقاء القبض عليه، مشيرة إلى أن المهاجم الذي ينحدر من شيكاغو سلم سلاحه وتم اعتقاله.
وأثارت حادثة مقتل اثنين من موظفي السفارة الإسرائيلية موجة تفاعل عارمة على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي خصوصاً بعد تداول اسم الشاب الأمريكي إلياس رودريغيز كمشتبه فيه رئيسي في العملية، واقتران الحادثة بهتافه الشهير «الحرية لفلسطين».
وأشاروا إلى أن المجازر الإسرائيلية في قطاع غزة لا يمكن لأي إنسان حر أن يتجاوزها، وأنه يجب على نتنياهو وقف حرب الإبادة التي يشنها على أهالي القطاع.

The sources indicated that the attacker, Elias Rodriguez, is an oral history researcher at The HistoryMakers, where he prepares detailed research plans and biographies of prominent leaders in the American community.
The sources reported that the attacker was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, holds a Bachelor's degree in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and worked before joining The HistoryMakers in 2023 as a content writer for commercial and non-commercial companies in the technology sector, at both the national and local levels.
Information indicated that the young man enjoys reading and writing fictional stories, attending live music, watching movies, and exploring new places. He lives in the Avondale neighborhood of Chicago and is 30 years old.
The U.S. police in Washington stated that the suspect in the shooting shouted "Freedom for Palestine" while being arrested, noting that the attacker, who is from Chicago, surrendered his weapon and was taken into custody.
The incident involving the killing of two Israeli embassy employees sparked a massive reaction on social media, especially after the name of the American young man Elias Rodriguez circulated as the main suspect in the operation, coupled with his famous chant "Freedom for Palestine."
They pointed out that the Israeli massacres in the Gaza Strip cannot be overlooked by any free person, and that Netanyahu must stop the genocide he is waging against the people of the region.
