رحّبَت رابطة العالم الإسلامي بإعلان دولة رئيس وزراء كندا مارك كارني، ودولة رئيس وزراء جمهورية مالطا روبيرت أبيلا، ومكتب دولة رئيس وزراء البرتغال لويس مونتينيغرو، عزمَ بلدانهم على الاعتراف بدولة فلسطين، في شهر سبتمبر القادم.
وثمّن الأمين العام رئيس هيئة علماء المسلمين الدكتور محمد بن عبدالكريم العيسى، في بيانٍ للأمانة العامة للرابطة، هذا الإعلان من حكومَات كندا ومالطا والبرتغال، مؤكّدًا أنّه خطوة مهمّة في الاتجاه الصحيح نحو الموقف الشرعي والمسؤول مع الحقّ التاريخي والقانوني للشعب الفلسطيني، والسبيل الوحيد لتحقيق السلام الشامل العادل والدائم في المنطقة.
وقال معاليه: «إنّ على دول العالم كافّةً تحمّل مسؤوليتها تجاه مظلوميّة الشعب الفلسطيني، بالوقوف على الجانب الصحيح من التاريخ؛ انتصاراً للشرعية الدولية، ووضْع حدٍّ لهذه المأساة الإنسانية المؤلمة، وتداعياتها الخطيرة على المنطقة والمجتمع الدولي والعالم أجمع».
The Muslim World League welcomed the announcement by the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Malta, Robert Abela, and the office of the Prime Minister of Portugal, Luis Montenegro, of their countries' intention to recognize the State of Palestine in the upcoming September.
The Secretary-General and President of the Muslim Scholars Association, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, praised this announcement from the governments of Canada, Malta, and Portugal in a statement from the League's General Secretariat, affirming that it is an important step in the right direction towards a legitimate and responsible stance regarding the historical and legal rights of the Palestinian people, and the only way to achieve comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in the region.
His Excellency stated: "All countries of the world must bear their responsibility towards the suffering of the Palestinian people by standing on the right side of history; in support of international legitimacy, and putting an end to this painful humanitarian tragedy and its serious repercussions on the region, the international community, and the entire world."
