The city of Medina is preparing to welcome new work agendas that align with the Kingdom's economic vision, enhancing its status as an important cultural and economic center.
Infrastructure has also received its share of projects in the region during 2024, with the opening of the two projects: the bridge on Khalid bin Al-Walid Road with King Abdullah Road, and the tunnel on Khalid bin Al-Walid Road with Sultanah Road, in addition to the expansion project of the bridge on Omar bin Al-Khattab Road with Wadi Al-Aziziyah, following the completion of the fieldwork for the project. An additional extension of King Faisal Road - Al-Safiya Bridge has also been opened, serving those heading to the Prophet's Mosque from Medina and its visitors coming from various directions, including the Al-Awali ascending road, Al-Safiya Bridge, and the emirate. The tunnel on Ali bin Abi Talib Road will serve those coming from the descending Al-Awali Road and the Al-Awali neighborhood, contributing to achieving smooth traffic flow, enhancing its efficiency, and alleviating congestion.
Among the most prominent projects attracting visitors is the Al-Mughaysila neighborhood project, located southwest of the Prophet's Mosque, 900 meters away, covering an area of 1.4 million square meters. It serves as a model for rehabilitating old neighborhoods and enhancing their visual identity, containing 3,300 buildings, with a population of 26,200 residents. The neighborhood also includes a number of important government facilities, such as the regional emirate and the municipality, in addition to about 70 historical and religious landmarks, most notably the historical castle building and the stone square. The name "Al-Mughaysila" refers to the farms that were once present within the neighborhood's boundaries.
The Al-Mughaysila project aims to develop the area architecturally, environmentally, and economically; enrich the knowledge experience for the residents of Medina and its visitors; and enhance the quality of life. It will also create a range of investment opportunities and sites within the neighborhood, in addition to launching eight initiatives to support economic development, aimed at improving the business climate, promoting the neighborhood, and supporting it as a tourist and commercial attraction in Medina.
The Al-Mughaysila development project, implemented by the Municipality of Medina and development partners, aims to improve the urban landscape, address visual distortions in residential buildings, enhance infrastructure and the service system provided, as well as attract direct and indirect investments. It also contributes to providing job opportunities, caring for the historical aspect, and strengthening the social system among all residents of the neighborhood.
