بدأت بلدية محافظة الخفجي بأعمال تطوير الواجهة البحرية بطول 3 كيلومترات، وذلك بالعديد من الأعمال التي تتواكب مع برامجها في برنامج جودة الحياة، وتحسين المشهد الحضري بالمحافظة، بما يتيح لرواد الكورنيش فرصة لممارسة مختلف الأنشطة الترفيهية، والرياضية، إذ يحمل المشروع أهمية خاصة لإسهامه في مجال تطوير البنية الأساسية في المحافظة، كما يتيح المشروع توسيع فرص ممارسة رياضة الجري والمشي، ويسهم في رفع مستوى اللياقة البدنية، وبما لهذا من إسهام مباشر في الارتقاء بالصحة العامة للمجتمع، عبر الاهتمام بالمرافق التي تتيح للأهالي ممارسة مختلف الأنشطة الترفيهية، والرياضية.
من جهته، أشار رئيس بلدية محافظة الخفجي المهندس محمد بن علي اليامي إلى أن مشروع تطوير الواجهة البحرية يأتي في إطار خطة وإستراتيجية لتطوير المرافق العامة في الخفجي؛ بهدف تطوير المرافق الحالية منها وتزويدها بخدمات ومرافق ترفيهية، ورياضية، وجمالية، واستثمارية جديدة، لتعزيز مستوى جودة الحياة، وتوفير بيئة صحية مميزة للسكان والسياح والزوار.
وأوضح المهندس محمد اليامي أن مشروع تطوير الواجهة البحرية سيتم بطول يزيد على 3000 متر، وتشمل أعمال التطوير إعادة تأهيل كافة الممرات ومسارات المشي بطول 4000 متر، ومسارات خرسانة ممشطة بمساحة 2000 متر، وأيضاً صيانة الحماية الحجرية لتكسير الأمواج بمساحة 500 متر مكعب، إضافة إلى أعمال التشجير والتجميل، وزراعة أكثر من 500 شجرة، وتركيب ما يزيد على 350 عنصر إنارة جماليا، وأماكن جلوس بتصاميم حديثة، وتركيب 8 مظلات لمناطق للألعاب، واستحداث مرافق خدمية واستثمارية.
ويأتي هذا المشروع بهدف خلق بيئة صحية ومجتمعية وثقافية تعزز حركة المشي من خلال توفير مسارات للمشاة، ومسطحات خضراء ومرافق رياضية، مما يشجع الزوار والمرتادين على اتباع نمط حياة صحي، فيما سينعكس تطوير المساحات الخضراء في خلق أماكن جاذبة وحيوية، كما يعد المشروع إضافة جديدة للأماكن السياحية في محافظة الخفجي.
The municipality of Al Khobar Governorate has begun developing the waterfront along a length of 3 kilometers, with numerous projects that align with its programs in the Quality of Life initiative, and improving the urban landscape in the governorate. This development provides visitors to the corniche with opportunities to engage in various recreational and sports activities. The project holds special significance due to its contribution to the development of infrastructure in the governorate, as it expands opportunities for running and walking, and contributes to enhancing physical fitness, which directly impacts the overall health of the community by focusing on facilities that allow residents to engage in various recreational and sports activities.
In this regard, the Mayor of Al Khobar Governorate, Engineer Mohammed bin Ali Al-Yami, pointed out that the waterfront development project is part of a plan and strategy to enhance public facilities in Al Khobar; aiming to upgrade existing facilities and provide them with new recreational, sports, aesthetic, and investment services, to enhance the quality of life and provide a distinctive healthy environment for residents, tourists, and visitors.
Engineer Mohammed Al-Yami explained that the waterfront development project will extend over 3,000 meters, and the development works include rehabilitating all pathways and walking trails over a length of 4,000 meters, creating concrete pathways covering an area of 2,000 meters, as well as maintaining the stone protection against wave break with a volume of 500 cubic meters, in addition to landscaping and beautification works, planting more than 500 trees, installing over 350 aesthetically pleasing lighting elements, and modern seating areas, along with the installation of 8 canopies for play areas, and the establishment of service and investment facilities.
This project aims to create a healthy, community, and cultural environment that promotes walking by providing pedestrian pathways, green spaces, and sports facilities, encouraging visitors and patrons to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The development of green spaces will create attractive and vibrant areas, making this project a new addition to the tourist attractions in Al Khobar Governorate.
