The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Latif Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, confirmed to "Okaz" that God has protected the country thanks to the wisdom and firmness of the leadership, as the Kingdom has reinforced the principles of moderation, tolerance, and the fight against extremism and excess.
Al Sheikh added: "It is no secret that the proponents of these extremist ideas have spent decades breeding and proliferating in any society they settle in, including the Saudi society, which is different from others. It is a society that is religious by nature, and although some youth have been influenced at certain times by these ideas promoted by some instigators, the people of the Kingdom stood united against these ideas, for they are people of faith and pure belief, following a moderate and balanced approach."
The Minister of Islamic Affairs continued: "I bring you good news that things are now in a better state, and the idea advocated by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince, of spreading the principles of moderation, tolerance, and mercy among people, in accordance with what is stated in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah, and what the predecessors of the nation, the companions and the followers, practiced, we have worked on it, and this approach has become a demand in many Arab and Islamic countries. Many countries are adopting this moderate approach, defending their peoples, and preserving their religion and national resources through the method of moderation and balance that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques called for, and which the Crown Prince has implemented and supported."
Al Sheikh concluded his remarks to "Okaz" by saying: "We thank God, the citizens have reached a high level of awareness and understanding; they are not deceived by the misguided ideas promoted by those who exploit religion to achieve political and financial gains, disrupt national unity, and undermine the nation's resources. Now the vision is clear, and citizens have become advocates for tolerance, justice, national unity, and the preservation of their homeland and its resources."
