نفذت بلدية مدينة الظهران أخيراً مبادرة تشجير في حديقة السديم، وذلك بالتعاون مع مدارس التربية الأهلية، تهدف إلى توعية المجتمع بأهمية حماية البيئة وصيانتها.
من جانبه، أوضح رئيس بلدية مدينة الظهران المهندس فيصل بن عبد الهادي القحطاني أن الطلاب شاركوا في زراعة أشجار النيم، التي تعد من الأشجار سريعة النمو نسبياً، ويتراوح ارتفاعها بين 15 و30 متراً، وتتكيف مع نطاق واسع من الظروف المناخية والتربة، وتتحمل الجفاف والحرارة العالية، ما يجعلها قليلة الاستهلاك المائي.
وقال إن المبادرة تأتي في إطار جهود البلدية لتعزيز البيئة النظيفة والصحية، وتشجيع الحفاظ على الطبيعة وتوفير مساحات خضراء لاستمتاع المواطنين والزوار بها، إضافة إلى تعزيز أهمية المحافظة على البيئة، للحد من السلوكيات الخاطئة من قبل المتنزهين، التي تؤثر سلباً على البيئة.
وأشار إلى ضرورة تفعيل مثل هذه المبادرات لما لها من أثر إيجابي ملموس في زيادة الوعي، وتحسين المنظر العام والمحافظة على المكون البيئي لتحقيق أحد مستهدفات رؤية السعودية 2030 لتحسين جودة الحياة.
The Municipality of Dhahran City has recently implemented a tree-planting initiative in Al-Sadeem Park, in collaboration with the National Education Schools, aimed at raising community awareness about the importance of protecting and maintaining the environment.
For his part, the Mayor of Dhahran City, Engineer Faisal bin Abdulhadi Al-Qahtani, explained that the students participated in planting neem trees, which are relatively fast-growing trees, reaching heights between 15 and 30 meters. They adapt to a wide range of climatic conditions and soil types, and they are drought-resistant and tolerant of high temperatures, making them low in water consumption.
He stated that the initiative is part of the municipality's efforts to promote a clean and healthy environment, encourage the preservation of nature, and provide green spaces for citizens and visitors to enjoy, in addition to emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation to reduce negative behaviors by park-goers that adversely affect the environment.
He pointed out the necessity of activating such initiatives due to their tangible positive impact on increasing awareness, improving the overall appearance, and preserving the environmental component to achieve one of the targets of Saudi Vision 2030 for improving the quality of life.
