تستضيف المملكة أعمال الاجتماع السنوي الثالث عشر لمجلس البحوث العالمي في العاصمة الرياض خلال الفترة 22-18 مايو الجاري، في خطوةٍ تعكس جاذبية بيئة البحث والابتكار في المملكة والجهود المبذولة لبناء اقتصاد معرفيٍ قائم على الابتكار.
ويُعدّ هذا الاجتماع الذي تنظمه مدينة الملك عبدالعزيز للعلوم والتقنية «كاكست»، وهيئة تنمية البحث والتطوير والابتكار، بالشراكة مع مجلس البحوث العلمية والتكنولوجية في الجمهورية التركية «توبيتاك»، حدثاً بالغ الأهمية، إذ يُمثل أول استضافةٍ لاجتماع مجلس البحوث العالمي في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا منذ تأسيسه في عام 2012.
وتأتي هذه الاستضافة لتأكيد مكانة المملكة المتقدمة في الحراك العلمي والبحثي على مستوى العالم، وذلك بصفتها نائباً لرئيس مجلس المحافظين، وهو المنصب الذي يشغله معالي رئيس مدينة الملك عبدالعزيز للعلوم والتقنية الدكتور منير بن محمود الدسوقي، وعضواً في المجلس ذاته، إضافةً إلى دور المملكة المحوري كعضو في اللجنة التنفيذية للمجلس ممثلة لمجالس البحوث في دول منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا.
ويهدف الاجتماع الذي يُشارك فيه رؤساء مجالس البحوث العلمية العالمية إلى تعزيز التعاون العلمي الدولي، وتسهيل تبادل الخبرات والمعارف بين المؤسسات البحثية والتمويلية من مختلف أنحاء العالم، ويهدف إلى تسليط الضوء على الطموحات العالمية في مجال البحث والتطوير والابتكار، التي تسعى العديد من الدول لتحقيقها.
ويُناقش الاجتماع موضوعين رئيسين هما: «إدارة البحوث في عصر الذكاء الاصطناعي»، و«العمل الإبداعي المُشترك» لمواجهة التحديات وتحقيق التنمية المُستدامة على المستويين الوطني والعالمي، التي حُدِّدَت بما يتوافق مع رؤية مجلس البحوث العالمي وأهدافه الإستراتيجية، والتطلعات الوطنية للبحث والتطوير والابتكار لمجالس البحوث العالمية.
وتعد استضافة المملكة للاجتماع السنوي الثالث عشر خطوةً إستراتيجية تعكس توجه المملكة في تعظيم قيمة وأثر أعمال مجلس البحوث العالمي؛ انطلاقًا من المكانة التي تحظى بها في منظومة البحث والتطوير والابتكار الدولية، وسعيها الدائم لتعزيز ارتباطها الدولي بما يرسّخ موقعها الإقليمي والدولي، وتؤكد أهمية المملكة كمحطة إستراتيجية لمجالس البحوث العالمية، لما تتمتع به من إمكانات وقدرات تسهم في دعم التقدم العلمي والتقني في مختلف المجالات.
وتسهم هذه الاستضافة في تعزيز مكانة المملكة على المستويين الإقليمي والعالمي في مجالات البحث والتطوير والابتكار، إضافةً إلى تحقيق التعاون بين مجالس البحوث في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، بما يدعم حضورها الدولي، ويسهم في تعزيز التقدم المعرفي والابتكاري على مستوى العالم.
يُذكر أن مجلس البحوث العالمي يُعدّ منتدى دوليًّاً يضم رؤساء مجالس البحوث الوطنيّة والهيئات الحكومية المُمولة للبحث من مختلف دول العالم؛ بهدف تطوير سياسات وأطر تعاون دولية لتسريع التقدم العلمي، ودعم الشفافية في البحث العلمي، وتعزيز الشراكات بين الدول، وتنمية قدرات البحث والتطوير على مستوى العالم ومواجهة القضايا والتحدّيات العالمية من خلال البحث العلمي المُشترك والتعاون الدولي.
The Kingdom is hosting the 13th annual meeting of the Global Research Council in the capital, Riyadh, from May 18 to 22, in a move that reflects the attractiveness of the research and innovation environment in the Kingdom and the efforts made to build an innovation-based knowledge economy.
This meeting, organized by the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority, in partnership with the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), is of great significance, as it represents the first hosting of the Global Research Council meeting in the Middle East and North Africa region since its establishment in 2012.
This hosting comes to affirm the Kingdom's advanced position in the scientific and research movement globally, as it serves as the Vice Chair of the Board of Governors, a position held by His Excellency Dr. Munir bin Mahmoud Al-Dosouqi, President of KACST, and a member of the same council, in addition to the Kingdom's pivotal role as a member of the Executive Committee of the council representing the research councils in the Middle East and North Africa.
The meeting, which includes the participation of heads of global scientific research councils, aims to enhance international scientific cooperation and facilitate the exchange of experiences and knowledge among research and funding institutions from around the world. It seeks to highlight global ambitions in research, development, and innovation that many countries aspire to achieve.
The meeting will discuss two main topics: "Research Management in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" and "Collaborative Creative Work" to address challenges and achieve sustainable development at both national and global levels, which have been defined in accordance with the vision and strategic goals of the Global Research Council and the national aspirations for research, development, and innovation of global research councils.
The Kingdom's hosting of the 13th annual meeting is a strategic step that reflects the Kingdom's direction in maximizing the value and impact of the Global Research Council's work; stemming from its position in the international research, development, and innovation system, and its constant endeavor to enhance its international connections, solidifying its regional and international standing. It underscores the importance of the Kingdom as a strategic hub for global research councils, given its capabilities and resources that contribute to supporting scientific and technological advancement in various fields.
This hosting contributes to enhancing the Kingdom's position at both the regional and global levels in the fields of research, development, and innovation, in addition to achieving cooperation among research councils in the Middle East and North Africa, which supports its international presence and contributes to enhancing knowledge and innovation progress worldwide.
It is worth noting that the Global Research Council is an international forum that includes heads of national research councils and government funding agencies from various countries worldwide, aimed at developing policies and frameworks for international cooperation to accelerate scientific progress, support transparency in scientific research, enhance partnerships between countries, and develop research and development capabilities globally to address global issues and challenges through collaborative scientific research and international cooperation.
