Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah received Canada's Foreign Minister Anita Anand at the ministry's headquarters in Riyadh today (Monday).

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the positive and growing momentum in the bilateral relations that have lasted for more than 50 years, based on mutual interests aimed at achieving and diversifying economic growth, enhancing regional and international security, and establishing the foundations of global peace.

Both sides noted the level of bilateral trade, where the trade exchange between the two countries reached more than (12) billion Saudi Riyals in 2024, and welcomed the establishment of the Saudi-Canadian Business Council and its efforts to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries. They also acknowledged the progress made in the ongoing negotiations regarding the Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Foreign Investment between the two countries.

They also welcomed the holding of the (second) educational partnership forum between the two countries, which took place on 11 / 10 / 1447 corresponding to 30 / 3 / 2026.

They discussed ways to enhance and develop relations in all fields, especially priority areas, including trade, investment, space, artificial intelligence, mining, tourism, education, and pharmaceuticals. They agreed on the importance of deepening bilateral relations and enhancing the comprehensive partnership between the two countries.

The two sides exchanged views on regional challenges, condemning Iranian behavior that destabilizes the region, including Iranian attacks on the Kingdom and Gulf states, which threaten regional and international security. They called on Iran to immediately cease its aggressions and to respect international law, international humanitarian law, and the principles of good neighborliness.

They stressed the necessity for Iran to comply with Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026) and to stop supporting, funding, and arming its affiliated militias in Arab countries, which undermines the foundations of regional and international peace and security.

Canada's Foreign Minister expressed her country's solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and her appreciation for the assistance provided by the Kingdom to facilitate the return of its citizens, reiterating her readiness to closely cooperate with the Kingdom to enhance regional stability and protect civilians amid the ongoing conflict affecting the Gulf and Middle Eastern countries.

Both sides agreed on the necessity of international efforts to reduce tensions, enhance maritime security and energy security, and protect critical infrastructure.

Canada's Foreign Minister expressed her appreciation and gratitude for the warm reception and generous hospitality, reaffirming her country's commitment to strengthening a substantive partnership looking towards the future with the Kingdom.
