Before the international community, especially the region, wakes up from what happened in the midterm elections for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives; the world has been swept by a frantic race to succeed the indirect negotiations in Doha between Iran and the United States, which have now come down to one of two options: either reaching an agreement that removes the specter of war and begins to address the core issues; or President Donald Trump unleashing his air and naval forces to strike Iran, thereby creating a new reality in the region; especially amid reports indicating that Israel is now in a state of readiness for a return to confrontation, despite the fog surrounding the fate of Netanyahu's government, and the possibilities of igniting the fronts of Iran's proxies to implement the strategy recommended by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei: strikes that do not adhere to geographical factors.
What complicates the situation further is that President Trump has effectively entered the "lame duck" phase, following the overwhelming Democratic takeover of Congress; and that Iran has nothing in its hands but to project its frustrations and failures onto countries that have no involvement in the war, which are actually seeking to avoid it and reach a solution. However, this does not mean underestimating the power of the United States, its endless arsenal of weapons and ammunition, and Trump's plans to destroy what remains of Iran.
Therefore, hope remains pinned on the Qatari-Pakistani mediation, to reach a deal that allows for a ceasefire, the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and instructing Iran's proxies to stop their brutal attacks on countries that have no guilt other than being geographically adjacent to Iran. But the failure of mediation does not mean that those countries do not have sufficient plans to defend themselves.
