Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman received the Syrian President, Ahmad al-Shara, in the capital Riyadh.
The Syrian news agency reported that President al-Shara will discuss with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman a number of bilateral topics, in addition to signing several agreements in various sectors.
It noted that the visit comes "in the context of the developing relations between the two countries, as Saudi Arabia was the first destination for President Ahmad al-Shara and Foreign Minister and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani after the liberation of Syria, from which the beginning of lifting sanctions was initiated, and Syria has always emphasized the importance of the relationship between the two countries in all political, security, and economic fields."
The visit aligns with a critical regional timing, especially amidst the tensions in the Middle East and efforts to bridge the viewpoints between Iran and the U.S. to prevent the outbreak of war again.
Upon President al-Shara's arrival in Riyadh at King Khalid International Airport, he was welcomed by Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region, Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayaf, Secretary of the Region, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Engineer Saleh al-Jasser (the accompanying minister), Royal Court Advisor Khalid bin Farid Hadhrawi, Chargé d'Affaires and Head of the Arab Republic of Syria's Mission to the Kingdom Minister Plenipotentiary Mohsen Mhabash, Director of the Area Police Major General Mansour bin Nasser Al-Otaibi, and Royal Protocol Agent Fahd Al-Suhail.
