A number of residents in the Wahat Al-Salam neighborhood west of Medina have called on the region's municipality to intervene urgently to address the condition of the wadi that runs between their homes, emphasizing that it poses a danger to the safety of residents, especially in the absence of side barriers and protective measures, in addition to its transformation into a site for waste accumulation.
Absence of Side Barriers
Citizen Mohammed Zidan Al-Mutairi explained that the residents expressed their dissatisfaction with the municipality's lack of response to their reports, pointing out that a citizen and her children died a month ago after their car fell into the wadi due to the absence of side barriers along its length. He added that the wadi has become a threat to the lives of residents from both traffic and environmental perspectives.
For his part, citizen Musaad Al-Suhaimi expressed his astonishment at the municipality of Medina accepting the wadi project from the contractor, despite what he described as its non-compliance with the designs, plans, and specifications approved for wadi drainage projects, particularly regarding the establishment of side barriers and the provision of safety and protection requirements, stressing that the lack of safety measures has made the wadi a source of concern for the residents.
Danger to Residents
Yasser Al-Suhbi stated that residents are living in a state of anxiety fearing for their children from falling into the wadi, especially during rainfall, given its location amidst the homes and the danger it poses to the residents.
Citizens Mohammed Al-Muzaini and Ali Awad Al-Muhamadi called on the region's municipality to intervene urgently to end the residents' suffering and to provide safety measures for vehicles and pedestrians by installing concrete barriers on both sides of the wadi, in order to protect lives and reduce potential accidents.
