أمين مجلس التعاون: تعزيز العمل البلدي لتحقيق مدن أكثر كفاءة

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, confirmed that the ambition for the upcoming phase is directed towards maximizing the impact of the municipal sector and transforming the outcomes of joint Gulf work into tangible applications and practices in the member states, which enhances the efficiency of municipal services and allows for the expansion of benefits from successful experiences and innovative solutions, as well as accelerating the employment of modern technologies to achieve more sustainable, resilient cities capable of keeping pace with future changes.

This came during the twenty-ninth meeting of the Ministers of Municipal Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council, held today in the Bahraini capital, Manama, chaired by the Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Engineer Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak.

Al-Budaiwi explained that the member states have made significant strides in developing joint municipal work through initiatives, programs, and guidelines that have contributed to the exchange of experiences and enhanced the benefits from successful practices. He pointed out that the launch of the "Urban Research Center of the Gulf Cooperation Council" represents a pivotal step in supporting urban planning and municipal decision-making, by utilizing scientific research and specialized data in developing cities and addressing their future challenges, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, modern technologies, and the development of smart and sustainable cities.

He added that the launch of the seventh cycle of the Gulf Cooperation Council Award in the field of municipalities for the years 2027–2028 under the title "Smart Solutions in Municipal Work" comes as a confirmation of the importance of encouraging innovation and expanding the scope of benefits from modern applications in developing municipal work in the member states.
