توقّعت أمانة العاصمة المقدسة أن يكون اختفاء لوحة تحذيرية عن إطعام الطيور، ظلت مثبتة قرب إشارة الخنساء وسط مكة، ناتجاً عن إزالتها بواسطة بعض أفراد جالية تمارس بيع حبوب إطعام الطيور، وأشارت إلى معاناتها من إزالة عدد من اللوحات في مواقع متفرقة.
وكشف المتحدث باسم أمانة العاصمة المقدسة ضيف الله الخزمري لـ«عكاظ»، أن اللوحة «اختفت في ظروف غامضة»، مرجحاً أن يكون بعض أفراد الجالية التي تبيع الحبوب قد أزالوها، وقال: «مثلما أزالوا كثيراً من اللوحات ونحن في معاناة من ذلك».
وكانت «عكاظ» رصدت في وقت سابق اللوحة التحذيرية في الموقع المعروف بكثافة تجمع الحمام، وحملت عبارة: «للحفاظ على الصحة العامة والبيئة، فضلاً عدم إطعام الطيور في هذا الموقع»، مع تنويه بوجود مراقبة مستمرة للمخالفين، وأن الغرامة تصل إلى 1,000 ريال.
وفي رصد لاحق، لاحظت «عكاظ» اختفاء اللوحة من الموقع، في وقت لا يزال يشهد تجمع أسراب من الحمام ومن يقدمون لها الطعام.
كما رصدت «عكاظ» في مواقع أخرى بمكة انتشار بائعي أكياس الحبوب الصغيرة أمام الإشارات المرورية، إذ يبادرون بالتوجه إلى قائدي المركبات لبيع الأكياس مقابل ريال أو ريالين.
وشدد المتحدث على أن الأمانة تتابع المواقع التي تشهد تجمعات للطيور، وتنفذ أعمال النظافة والغسل والتطهير بصورة مستمرة؛ للحد من آثار المخلفات وبقايا الطعام وما قد تسببه من أضرار على البيئة والصحة العامة.
وأضاف أن الأمانة سبق أن أطلقت حملة «ليه؟» للتوعية بأضرار إطعام الطيور عبر قنواتها الرسمية واللوحات التوعوية ووسائل الإعلام، ولا تزال الحملة مستمرة ضمن برامجها التوعوية، فيما تخضع اللوحات التوعوية للمتابعة وفق احتياج المواقع.
وأكدت الأمانة استمرار أعمالها الميدانية والتوعوية، داعية الجميع إلى التعاون وتجنّب إطعام الطيور في المواقع العامة؛ حفاظاً على النظافة والصحة العامة وسلامة البيئة.
The Municipality of the Holy Capital expected that the disappearance of a warning sign about feeding birds, which had been installed near the Al-Khansaa intersection in the middle of Mecca, was due to its removal by some members of a community that sells bird feed. It also indicated its suffering from the removal of several signs in various locations.
The spokesperson for the Municipality of the Holy Capital, Dhaif Allah Al-Khazmari, told "Okaz" that the sign "disappeared under mysterious circumstances," suggesting that some members of the community selling the feed might have removed it. He said: "Just as they have removed many signs, we are suffering from that."
"Okaz" had previously noted the warning sign in the area known for the high concentration of pigeons, which bore the phrase: "To maintain public health and the environment, please do not feed the birds in this location," with a note about continuous monitoring of violators, and that the fine can reach 1,000 riyals.
In a subsequent observation, "Okaz" noticed the sign had disappeared from the site, at a time when flocks of pigeons and those feeding them were still present.
"Okaz" also observed in other locations in Mecca the spread of vendors selling small bags of feed in front of traffic signals, as they approach vehicle drivers to sell the bags for one or two riyals.
The spokesperson emphasized that the municipality is monitoring areas where birds gather and is continuously carrying out cleaning, washing, and disinfection activities to mitigate the effects of waste and leftover food and what it may cause in terms of harm to the environment and public health.
He added that the municipality had previously launched the "Why?" campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of feeding birds through its official channels, awareness signs, and media outlets, and the campaign is still ongoing as part of its awareness programs, while the awareness signs are monitored according to the needs of the locations.
The municipality confirmed the continuation of its field and awareness activities, calling on everyone to cooperate and avoid feeding birds in public places to maintain cleanliness, public health, and environmental safety.
