التزامًا بمبادرة رابطة العالم الإسلامي للسِّلم المجتمعيّ في غرب أفريقيا، وما نتجَ عن مؤتمرها من قراراتٍ تضمَّنَها «إعلانُ أبوجا»، الذي اعتُمِدَ بإجماع القيادات الدينية الممثِّلة لكافّة الأديان والمذاهب في المنطقة، برعاية رئيس جمهورية نيجيريا الاتحادية، بولا أحمد تينوبو، شهِدَ الأمين العام لرابطة العالم الإسلامي، رئيسُ هيئة علماء المسلمين، الشيخ الدكتور محمد بن عبدالكريم العيسى، اجتماعَ الطاولةِ المُستديرة عالية المستوى للقيادات الإسلامية والمسيحية في المنطقة، حولَ: «الدين وصناعة الوئام المجتمعي»، والهادف لتعزيز العمل المُشترَك في مجالات الوقاية من النزاعات، وحماية النسيج الوطني بمختلف تنوُّعه الدينيّ والإثنيّ.
وأثمرَ الاجتماعُ عن توقيع حزمةٍ أوّليةٍ من الاتفاقيات، من أبرزها: مذكرة تفاهمٍ بين رابطة العالم الإسلامي ومركز الوساطة بين الأديان في نيجيريا، ومذكرة تفاهمٍ بين جماعة إزالة البدعة وإقامة السُّنَّة في نيجيريا ومجلس القيادات الدينية المسيحية في شمال نيجيريا، وكذلك توقيع مذكرة تفاهمٍ بين جماعة نصر الإسلام في نيجيريا ومبادرة الشباب المسيحي من أجل السلام والتنمية، إضافةً إلى مذكرة تفاهمٍ بين اتحاد منظمات أهل السنّة في نيجيريا واتحاد القساوسة التقدميين.
وستتولى الهيئةُ التنسيقيةُ للقيادات والمؤسسات الدينية والمدنية في غرب أفريقيا متابعةَ تنفيذ مذكِّرات التفاهُم التي وُقِّعتْ، وكافّة التزامات مبادرة رابطة العالم الإسلامي للسِّلم المجتمعي التي تضمَّنَها «إعلانُ أبوجا»، بما يكفل حُسْنَ تنفيذها، وتحقيقَ أهدافها، ودِقّةَ قياساتها الدورية.
In line with the initiative of the Muslim World League for community peace in West Africa, and the outcomes of its conference which included decisions in the "Abuja Declaration," adopted by consensus of the religious leaders representing all religions and sects in the region, under the patronage of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, witnessed a high-level roundtable meeting of Islamic and Christian leaders in the region, focused on: "Religion and the Making of Community Harmony," aimed at enhancing joint efforts in the areas of conflict prevention and protecting the national fabric in its various religious and ethnic diversity.
The meeting resulted in the signing of an initial package of agreements, the most notable of which are: a memorandum of understanding between the Muslim World League and the Interfaith Mediation Center in Nigeria, a memorandum of understanding between the Group for the Removal of Innovations and the Establishment of the Sunnah in Nigeria and the Council of Christian Religious Leaders in Northern Nigeria, as well as a memorandum of understanding between the Group for the Victory of Islam in Nigeria and the Christian Youth Initiative for Peace and Development, in addition to a memorandum of understanding between the Union of Sunni Organizations in Nigeria and the Progressive Pastors Union.
The coordinating body for religious and civil leaders and institutions in West Africa will oversee the implementation of the memoranda of understanding that were signed, along with all commitments of the Muslim World League's initiative for community peace included in the "Abuja Declaration," ensuring their proper execution, achieving their goals, and accurately measuring their periodic assessments.
