إتلاف 4.5 طن من الأغذية واللحوم الفاسدة وإغلاق 5 مواقع عشوائية بجدة

The Jeddah Municipality has destroyed more than 4.5 tons of food and meat of unknown origin and unfit for consumption during a joint field campaign carried out in the Al-Faisaliah neighborhood, which resulted in the seizure and closure of 5 random locations used for conducting illegal commercial activities within a residential area.

The General Director for Monitoring and Addressing Negative Phenomena at the municipality, Yasser bin Siraj Baksh, explained that the monitoring teams detected the exploitation of several residential apartments for operating illegal commercial and food activities, including restaurants, kitchens, food factories, grocery stores, and barber shops, which operate in environments lacking health and regulatory requirements.

He pointed out that the campaign resulted in the destruction of quantities of meat of unknown origin and food prepared in non-compliant ways, confiscation of the equipment used, and closure of the violating locations, while the consumable materials were handed over to the "Sustaining" charity for food preservation, and legal actions were taken against the violators.

He reported that the field teams also monitored the exploitation of violating buildings as housing for laborers, indicating that the campaign was carried out with the support of the Airport Sub-Municipality and with the participation of several relevant authorities.

The Jeddah Municipality confirmed its continued efforts in monitoring and addressing negative phenomena, and enhancing oversight on illegal economic activities, contributing to the protection of public health and raising the level of compliance with regulatory requirements, calling for reporting violations through the "Baladi" application or the unified reporting center (940).
