تزخر محافظة الطائف بالعديد من البيوت التاريخية، التي تعبّر عن حضور الإنسان بإبداعات زماناً ومكاناً ما يؤسس للبُعد الحضاري، ويشهد على متانة وأصالة العمارة الحجازية، ومنها «بيت شقير» الأثري، الواقع وسط المنطقة التاريخية، والذي ما زال محتفظاً بعناصر التراث العمراني الأصيل.
ويقف «بيت شقير» وسط البلد في الجهة الشمالية من مسجد العباس، ويتكوّن من مدخل واحد وثلاثة طوابق؛ بُني الطابقان الأول والثاني من حجر الجرانيت وأخشاب العرعر، فيما شُيّد الطابق الثالث بالخرسانة الإسمنتية، إضافة إلى الرواشين التي تسهم في التهوية وتبريد الفراغات الداخلية.
وبدأت هيئة التراث أعمالها التطويرية في المبنى قبل عامين، وبدا اليوم على مشارف الافتتاح، إذ يتميّز بالرواشين الحجازية، والنقوش الحجرية والخشبية، والتجاويف والزخارف، والأرفف، والأسقف المبنية من أخشاب وجذوع الأشجار.
ويشهد الموقع حالياً توافد عدد من الزوار الذين تتجه أبصارهم إلى جدرانه من بعيد، ترقّباً لافتتاحه، لا سيما عشّاق التاريخ، لاكتشاف عبق الماضي وخوض تجربة التراث الثقافي الغني للطائف التاريخية، والاطلاع على أسلوب البناء القديم، الذي يعكس الأهمية التاريخية للمنطقة ومعالمها البارزة في التراث السعودي.
The Taif Governorate is rich in numerous historical houses that express human presence through creativity in time and place, establishing a cultural dimension and witnessing the robustness and authenticity of Hijazi architecture. Among these is the ancient "Shaqir House," located in the heart of the historical area, which still retains elements of authentic architectural heritage.
"Shaqir House" stands in the northern part of the town, next to Al-Abbas Mosque, and consists of one entrance and three floors; the first and second floors are built from granite stone and juniper wood, while the third floor is constructed with concrete. Additionally, the house features rawashin that contribute to ventilation and cooling of the internal spaces.
The Heritage Authority began its development work on the building two years ago, and it is now on the verge of opening, distinguished by its Hijazi rawashin, stone and wood carvings, recesses and decorations, shelves, and ceilings made from wood and tree trunks.
The site currently witnesses the arrival of a number of visitors whose eyes are drawn to its walls from afar, eagerly anticipating its opening, especially history enthusiasts, to discover the fragrance of the past and experience the rich cultural heritage of historical Taif, as well as to learn about the old construction style that reflects the historical significance of the region and its prominent landmarks in Saudi heritage.
