بتنظيم مشترك وبدعم من إمارة منطقة مكة المكرمة، وتوحيد للجهود بين كل من الهيئة السعودية للبحر الأحمر، والمديرية العامة لحرس الحدود، وأمانة محافظة جدة، والاتحاد السعودي للرياضات البحرية والغوص، والمركز الوطني لتنمية الحياة الفطرية، والمؤسسة العامة للمحافظة على الشعب المرجانية والسلاحف؛ انطلقت في محافظة جدة أمس، مبادرة «بحرنا مسؤوليتنا»، التي تهدف إلى إزالة المخلفات المستقرة في قاع البحر والتي تشكل تهديداً للشعاب المرجانية والكائنات الفطرية.
وشهدت المبادرة تطبيق خطة ميدانية دقيقة شملت مسحاً أولياً لتقدير كميات النفايات، وتوزيعاً جغرافياً للغواصين تحت الماء، تلتها عمليات «فرز وتصنيف» للنفايات المستخرجة على السطح، إذ جرى رصد أوزانها وأنواعها لتوثيق الأثر البيئي، وأسفرت الجهود عن إزالة أكثر من نصف طن من المخلفات والمواد الملوثة من قاع البحر، وأكثر من 4000 متر من خيوط الصيد الطويلة.
With joint organization and support from the Emirate of the Makkah Region, and unifying efforts between the Saudi Red Sea Authority, the General Directorate of Border Guard, the Jeddah Municipality, the Saudi Marine Sports and Diving Federation, the National Center for Wildlife Development, and the Public Authority for the Conservation of Coral Reefs and Turtles; the initiative "Our Sea is Our Responsibility" was launched yesterday in Jeddah, aiming to remove debris settled on the seabed that poses a threat to coral reefs and marine life.
The initiative witnessed the implementation of a precise field plan that included a preliminary survey to estimate the quantities of waste, and a geographical distribution of divers underwater, followed by "sorting and classifying" operations for the waste extracted to the surface, where their weights and types were recorded to document the environmental impact. The efforts resulted in the removal of more than half a ton of waste and pollutants from the seabed, as well as over 4000 meters of long fishing lines.
