اتهم الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي، اليوم (السبت)، روسيا بقصف كييف بصواريخ باليستية، مؤكداً نقص الصواريخ الاعتراضية الأوكرانية اللازمة لمنظومات الباتريوت الأمريكية للدفاع الجوي.
وقال زيلينسكي: «روسيا أطلقت على أوكرانيا 35 صاروخاً، منها 27 صاروخاً باليستياً، إضافة إلى 185 طائرة مسيّرة، ولم يُعترض سوى صاروخ باليستي واحد»، موضحاً أن بلاده لا توجد لديها صواريخ اعتراضية لمنظومة باتريوت.
وأضاف: «كل حزمة من الصواريخ الاعتراضية للصواريخ الباليستية تنقذ أرواح شعبنا، وكل ليلة من دونها تؤدي إلى مزيد من الضحايا».
وأشار زيلينسكي إلى أن حرائق اندلعت في أنحاء كييف، وأن 18 مبنى سكنياً ومدرسة والسفارة الليتوانية ومنشآت للبنية التحتية تعرضت لأضرار.
فيما قالت وزارة الخارجية الليتوانية إن نوافذ سفارتها تحطمت، وتضررت ألواح تجميع الطاقة الشمسية، وتناثر الحطام في فناء السفارة.
وذكر مكتب المدعي العام أنه تم تسجيل أضرار في سبع مناطق في كييف، التي يبلغ عدد سكانها نحو ثلاثة ملايين نسمة في هجمات اليوم.
من جهته، وجه وزير الخارجية الأوكراني أندريه سيبيها نداءً جديداً للحصول على إمدادات عاجلة من الدفاعات الجوية، قائلاً: «المعركة الجوية هي التي ستحدد مسار هذه الحرب، وكلما كان الدرع الجوي فوق أوكرانيا أقوى اقترب السلام أكثر».
في المقابل، قال رئيس شركة «روس آتوم» الروسية الحكومية للطاقة النووية أليكسي ليخاتشوف إن طائرتين مسيّرتين أوكرانيتين أصابتا وأغرقتا سفينة مدنية تابعة للشركة كانت تبحر في البحر الأسود خلال الليل، موضحاً أن جميع أفراد الطاقم البالغ عددهم 17 شخصاً نجوا من الهجوم على السفينة، التي كانت تنقل بضائع من بينها أغذية مجمدة ومواد بناء.
وصعّدت روسيا من هجماتها على العاصمة الأوكرانية ومدن أوكرانية أخرى، في حين تعاني أوكرانيا نقصاً مزمناً في أنظمة الدفاع الجوي القادرة على إسقاط الصواريخ الباليستية، التي تتحرك بسرعة تفوق سرعة الصوت عدة مرات.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia today (Saturday) of bombing Kyiv with ballistic missiles, confirming the shortage of Ukrainian interceptor missiles needed for the American Patriot air defense systems.
Zelensky said, "Russia launched 35 missiles at Ukraine, including 27 ballistic missiles, in addition to 185 drones, and only one ballistic missile was intercepted," explaining that his country does not have interceptor missiles for the Patriot system.
He added, "Every batch of interceptor missiles for ballistic missiles saves the lives of our people, and every night without them leads to more casualties."
Zelensky pointed out that fires broke out across Kyiv, and that 18 residential buildings, a school, the Lithuanian embassy, and infrastructure facilities were damaged.
The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry stated that the windows of its embassy were shattered, solar panel arrays were damaged, and debris was scattered in the embassy's courtyard.
The Prosecutor General's Office reported that damage was recorded in seven areas in Kyiv, which has a population of about three million, during today's attacks.
For his part, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha made a new appeal for urgent supplies of air defense, stating, "The air battle will determine the course of this war, and the stronger the air shield over Ukraine, the closer peace will be."
In contrast, Alexey Likhachev, head of the Russian state nuclear energy company Rosatom, said that two Ukrainian drones hit and sank a civilian ship belonging to the company that was sailing in the Black Sea overnight, explaining that all 17 crew members survived the attack on the ship, which was carrying goods including frozen food and building materials.
Russia has intensified its attacks on the Ukrainian capital and other Ukrainian cities, while Ukraine suffers from a chronic shortage of air defense systems capable of shooting down ballistic missiles that travel several times the speed of sound.
