A report from the "Legis 1" platform, which specializes in tracking congressional activities, indicated that the Senate Judiciary Committee will consider holding a hearing to discuss the group's activities within the United States on August 5th.

It noted that the official website of the committee still displays the previous session, titled "Hidden in Plain Sight: Confronting the Brotherhood Network in America," as postponed, without including an official notice for the upcoming session.

According to the report, the anticipated hearing may address the use of U.S. legal tools in dealing with activities linked to the Muslim Brotherhood within the United States, including laws on material support and financial sanctions, as well as exploring the possibility of granting authorities additional powers to track entities and individuals associated with the group.

The session will explore ways to translate the executive actions taken by President Donald Trump's administration into legislative frameworks, amid a trend within Congress to discuss handling the Muslim Brotherhood issue.

The report links the upcoming hearing to the action announced by the Treasury Department on July 23rd, which targeted prominent Brotherhood figure Mahmoud Al-Ibari, along with three individuals and three entities accused of supporting Hamas.

According to the Treasury Department, the sanctions revealed fundraising networks that allegedly used charitable organizations and informal financial systems to transfer money across multiple jurisdictions in support of Hamas.

The report indicated that legislative movements within Congress related to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) continue, which claims not to operate as a front for the Muslim Brotherhood or Hamas.

A bill known as H.R.4097, titled "The CAIR Terrorist Organization Designation Act," has been introduced in the House of Representatives.

The report clarified that the bill does not directly classify the council as a terrorist organization but directs the Secretary of State to review whether the council meets the necessary legal criteria for designation as a foreign terrorist organization.

It revealed ongoing political movements within Congress, noting that Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville called on President Donald Trump in July to ban the Muslim Brotherhood within the United States.
