عمقت أسعار الذهب خسائرها خلال تعاملات اليوم، وهبطت الأوقية بنسبة 1.5% وبلغت 4087.70 دولار، مع تصاعد رهانات رفع الفائدة الأمريكية، واستمرار ارتفاع النفط بسبب تصاعد الحرب في الشرق الأوسط، ما يزيد من مخاوف تفاقم الضغوط التضخمية، وسط ترقب المستثمرين اجتماع الفيدرالي الأسبوع القادم.
ورغم أن المستثمرين يتوقعون على نطاق واسع تثبيت أسعار الفائدة في الاجتماع القادم، لا تزال الأسواق تسعر احتمالاً بنسبة 77% لرفعها في سبتمبر القادم، بحسب أداة «سي إم إي فيدووتش».
وارتفع مؤشر الدولار -الذي يقيس أداء العملة الأمريكية أمام سلة من 6 عملات رئيسية- بنسبة طفيفة تبلغ 0.15% إلى 101.24 نقطة.
تصاعد التوترات
وكانت أسعار الذهب قد تراجعت اليوم، عن أعلى مستوياتها في أسبوعين، وسط تصاعد التوترات في الشرق الأوسط وارتفاع أسعار النفط.
واستقر الذهب في المعاملات الفورية عند 4132.01 دولار للأوقية، بعد ارتفاعه إلى 4165.87 دولار في الجلسة الماضية، وهو أعلى مستوى له منذ 7 يوليو الجاري.
وانخفضت العقود الأمريكية الآجلة للذهب تسليم أغسطس القادم بنسبة 0.4% إلى 4134.60 دولار.
وبالنسبة للمعادن النفيسة الأخرى، ارتفع سعر الفضة في المعاملات الفورية بنسبة 0.3% إلى 59.90 دولار للأوقية، فيما صعد سعر البلاتين بنسبة 0.7% إلى 1656.24 دولار، وزاد سعر البلاديوم بنسبة 0.8% إلى 1301.25 دولار.
The price of gold deepened its losses during today's trading, with the ounce dropping by 1.5% to reach $4087.70, amid rising bets on an increase in U.S. interest rates and the continued rise in oil prices due to escalating conflict in the Middle East, which heightens concerns over worsening inflationary pressures, as investors await next week's Federal Reserve meeting.
Although investors widely expect interest rates to remain unchanged at the upcoming meeting, markets are still pricing in a 77% chance of a hike in September, according to the CME FedWatch tool.
The dollar index - which measures the performance of the U.S. currency against a basket of 6 major currencies - rose slightly by 0.15% to 101.24 points.
Escalating Tensions
Gold prices had retreated today from their highest levels in two weeks, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and rising oil prices.
Gold stabilized in spot trading at $4132.01 per ounce, after rising to $4165.87 in the previous session, which was its highest level since July 7.
U.S. gold futures for August delivery fell by 0.4% to $4134.60.
As for other precious metals, silver prices in spot trading rose by 0.3% to $59.90 per ounce, while platinum prices increased by 0.7% to $1656.24, and palladium prices rose by 0.8% to $1301.25.
