توقع تقرير أن يرفع البنك المركزي الأوروبي توقعاته للتضخم عندما يجتمع صناع السياسة الشهر القادم، وفقاً لرئيسته كريستين لاغارد.
وقالت لاغارد في برنامج الحوار الإيطالي «كيه تيمبو كيه فا» أمس (الأحد): «إن التوقعات الصادرة في شهر مارس بارتفاع الأسعار 2.6% هذا العام، ستُراجع على الأرجح»، مضيفة أن الوضع «تطور» منذ ذلك الحين.
وتؤكد تعليقاتها ما أشار إليه صناع سياسة، بينهم عضو مجلس المحافظين ألكسندر ديماركو، في الأيام الأخيرة، وقال ديماركو في مقابلة مع «بلومبيرغ» إن التوقعات، التي نُشرت بعد وقت قصير من بداية حرب إيران، ربما كانت متفائلة أكثر من اللازم.
وامتنعت لاغارد عن الخوض في ما إذا كان مثل هذا التعديل يضع البنك المركزي الأوروبي على مسار زيادة أسعار الفائدة في 11 يونيو.
A report expects that the European Central Bank will raise its inflation forecasts when policymakers meet next month, according to its president Christine Lagarde.
Lagarde said in the Italian talk show "Che Tempo Che Fa" yesterday (Sunday): "The forecasts issued in March for a 2.6% rise in prices this year are likely to be revised," adding that the situation has "evolved" since then.
Her comments confirm what policymakers, including Governing Council member Alexander Demarco, have indicated in recent days. Demarco said in an interview with Bloomberg that the forecasts, which were published shortly after the start of the Iran war, may have been overly optimistic.
Lagarde refrained from commenting on whether such an adjustment would put the European Central Bank on a path to raise interest rates on June 11.
