U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pisent revealed yesterday (Tuesday) the resumption of trade talks with China in London for the second consecutive day, as the world's two largest economies seek to resolve their differences following a phone call between the leaders of the two countries.

Senior trade officials for President Donald Trump met with their Chinese counterparts in London the day before yesterday (Monday), with the U.S. delegation led by Treasury Secretary Scott Pisent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Trade Representative Jamison Greer.

The Wall Street Journal reported, citing informed sources, that Trump has authorized the "Pisent" team to consider the possibility of lifting U.S. restrictions on the sale of chip manufacturing programs, aircraft engine parts, and ethane.

Trump stated that the talks are going well, adding that he is receiving "only good reports."

The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced last Saturday that Vice Premier and chief trade negotiator He Lifeng will be in the United Kingdom from June 8 to 13.

Participating in the talks on Monday were Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce Li Qinggang, according to official media.

National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett said, "The United States is seeking assurance that China will restore flows of critical minerals," according to a report published by CNBC.

Hassett added, "The goal of today's meeting is to ensure the other party's seriousness, to actually reach a handshake, and to resolve this issue."
