أنهى رئيس الوزراء الهندي ناريندرا مودي، اليوم، زيارة إلى جزر المالديف حيث سعى لتعزيز الراوبط عبر عرض مشاريع بنى تحتية ودعم مالي حيوي للدولة الواقعة في المحيط الهندي التي تشهد أزمة مالية.
وبعيد وصوله للمالديف، أعلن مودي عن تسهيلات ائتمانية بـ565 مليون دولار للمالديف التي تواجه شحاً في العملات الأجنبية رغم ازدهار قطاعها السياحي.
كما خفّضت الهند الدفعات السنوية لقرض سابق من 51 مليون دولار إلى 29 مليون دولار. وناقش الجانبان اتفاقاً محتملاً للتجارة الحرة.
وفي زيارته التي استمرت يومين، دشّن مودي المقر الجديد لوزارة الدفاع وافتتح عدداً من مشاريع البنى التحتية المموّلة من الهند، من بينها طرق ومشروع إسكان لأربعة آلاف وحدة سكنية.
وغادر مودي ماليه، عاصمة الأرخبيل، بعد احتفالات الذكرى الـ60 لاستقلال المالديف.
وكتب مودي على منصة «إكس»: «علاقتنا تشهد نمواً مستمراً، تحدد أطره الروابط والتعاون بين شعبينا في مختلف القطاعات».
وشدّد على أن الهند تدعم تطلّعات الشعب المالديفي.
وقال رئيس المالديف محمد معز، خلال مأدبة وبجانبه مودي: «لطالما كانت الهند أقرب شركاء المالديف وأكثرهم موثوقية».
وأضاف: «نحن نثمّن حقاً الصداقة مع الهند ونشكر بلدكم على المساعدة التي قدّمتها لنا في أوقات الشدّة».
وجاء في منشور لمعزّ على منصة «إكس» أن زيارة مودي «رسمت مساراً واضحاً لمستقبل العلاقات بين المالديف والهند».
وتشتهر جزر المالديف بقطاعها السياحي المزدهر وشواطئها الخلابة، إضافة إلى موقعها الجغرافي الإستراتيجي، إذ تقع بجزرها البالغ عددها 1192 على مسارات للشحن العالمي.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded a visit to the Maldives today, where he sought to strengthen ties by offering infrastructure projects and vital financial support to the Indian Ocean nation facing a financial crisis.
Upon his arrival in the Maldives, Modi announced a credit facility of $565 million for the Maldives, which is experiencing a shortage of foreign currency despite the flourishing of its tourism sector.
India also reduced the annual payments on a previous loan from $51 million to $29 million. The two sides discussed a potential free trade agreement.
During his two-day visit, Modi inaugurated the new headquarters of the Ministry of Defense and opened several infrastructure projects funded by India, including roads and a housing project for four thousand residential units.
Modi left Malé, the capital of the archipelago, after celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of Maldives' independence.
Modi wrote on the platform "X": "Our relationship is witnessing continuous growth, defined by the ties and cooperation between our peoples across various sectors."
He emphasized that India supports the aspirations of the Maldivian people.
Maldives President Mohamed Muiz, during a banquet alongside Modi, stated: "India has always been the closest and most reliable partner of the Maldives."
He added: "We truly value the friendship with India and thank your country for the assistance it has provided us in times of hardship."
In a post by Muiz on the platform "X," he mentioned that Modi's visit "has charted a clear path for the future of relations between the Maldives and India."
The Maldives is renowned for its thriving tourism sector and stunning beaches, in addition to its strategic geographical location, as its 1,192 islands lie along global shipping routes.
