أعرب نائب رئيس الوزراء وزير الخارجية الباكستاني إسحاق دار عن تفاؤله بشأن قرب توقيع بلاده على اتفاق تجاري مع الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.
وقال خلال مشاركته في حلقة نقاشية بمركز أبحاث المجلس الأطلسي في واشنطن: «أعتقد أننا نقترب جداً من الانتهاء من اتفاق مع الولايات المتحدة، وفرقنا موجودة هنا في واشنطن تناقش وتعقد اجتماعات افتراضية».
وأضاف: «إن الأمر لن يستغرق شهوراً، ولا حتى أسابيع، بل فقط أياماً». وأشار إلى أنه توجد رغبة ثنائية للعمل على بناء شراكة قوية وطويلة الأمد.
من ناحية أخرى، أكّد رئيس الوزراء الباكستاني شهباز شريف، أن الاتحاد الأوروبي يعدّ أحد أكبر الشركاء التجاريين لباكستان، مجددا التزام حكومته بالبرنامج الأوروبي للامتيازات التجارية.
صرح بذلك خلال لقائه الليلة الماضية في مكتبه بإسلام آباد سفيرة الاتحاد الأوروبي لدى باكستان، رينا كيونوكا.
من جانبها أكّدت السفيرة الأوروبية التزام الاتحاد الأوروبي بتعزيز التعاون مع باكستان.

The Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed his optimism about the imminent signing of a trade agreement between his country and the United States of America.
He said during his participation in a discussion panel at the Atlantic Council research center in Washington: "I believe we are very close to finalizing an agreement with the United States, and our teams are here in Washington discussing and holding virtual meetings."
He added: "It will not take months, not even weeks, but just days." He pointed out that there is a mutual desire to work on building a strong and long-term partnership.
On another note, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that the European Union is one of Pakistan's largest trading partners, reiterating his government's commitment to the European trade preferences program.
He stated this during his meeting last night in his office in Islamabad with the European Union Ambassador to Pakistan, Riina Kionka.
For her part, the European ambassador confirmed the EU's commitment to enhancing cooperation with Pakistan.
