أعرب الرئيس الفرنسي إيمانويل ماكرون، عبر منصة إكس عن استياء فرنسا الشديد. ودعا الاتحاد الأوروبي إلى الدفاع بحزم عن المصالح الأوروبية، بعدما هدد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بفرض رسوم جمركية نسبتها 30% على السلع الأوروبية في الأول من أغسطس القادم.
ودعا الرئيس الفرنسي المفوضية الأوروبية إلى تسريع وتيرة التحضير لإجراءات مضادة ذات صدقية، عبر استنفار كل الأدوات المتوافرة لها، إذا لم يتم التوصل إلى اتفاق بحلول الأول من أغسطس.
وأوضح أن الاتحاد الأوروبي يخوض مفاوضات مع واشنطن منذ أسابيع عدة على قاعدة عرض صلب وصادق النية. وأكد أنه يعود إلى المفوضية أكثر من أي وقت مضى أن تؤكد عزم الاتحاد على الدفاع بحزم عن المصالح الأوروبية.
وقال ماكرون: «فرنسا تدعم في شكل تام المفوضية الأوروبية في التفاوض الذي سيتكثّف، للتوصل إلى اتفاق يقبل به الجانبان بحلول الأول من أغسطس، بحيث يعكس الاحترام الواجب توافره لدى الشركاء التجاريين مثل الاتحاد الأوروبي والولايات المتحدة، والمصالح المشتركة».
وطرح وزير التجارة الخارجية الفرنسي لوران سان مارتان إمكان صدور رد متناسب من فرنسا، خصوصا فيما يتعلق بالسلع والخدمات الأمريكية، إذا لم تتوصل بروكسل إلى اتفاق عادل مع واشنطن.
وأضاف الوزير عبر منصة إكس: «اعتبارا من (الاثنين) سأعمل في بروكسل مع نظرائي الـ26 على دعم المفوضية في مفاوضاتها مع الولايات المتحدة حتى الأول من أغسطس».
وانتقدت رئيسة مفوضية الاتحاد الأوروبي أورسولا فون دير لايين، أمس، إعلان ترمب، مع تأكيدها استعداد التكتل لمواصلة العمل من أجل بلوغ اتفاق مع واشنطن.
وبرر الرئيس الأمريكي الذي أعلن أيضا فرض رسوم جمركية بنسبة 30% على المكسيك، قراره بالإشارة إلى اختلال التوازن التجاري بين بلاده والاتحاد الأوروبي. ففي عام 2024، سجلت الولايات المتحدة عجزا تجاريا قدره 236 مليار دولار مع الاتحاد (بزيادة قدرها 13% على أساس سنوي)، وقد صدّر الأخير بضائع بقيمة 606 مليارات دولار إلى أكبر اقتصاد في العالم، وفق أرقام مكتب الممثل التجاري الأمريكي.

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed France's strong discontent via the X platform. He called on the European Union to firmly defend European interests after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose a 30% tariff on European goods starting August 1.
Macron urged the European Commission to accelerate the preparation of credible countermeasures by mobilizing all available tools if an agreement is not reached by August 1.
He clarified that the European Union has been negotiating with Washington for several weeks based on a solid and good-faith offer. He emphasized that it is up to the Commission more than ever to assert the Union's determination to firmly defend European interests.
Macron stated, "France fully supports the European Commission in the negotiations that will intensify to reach an agreement acceptable to both sides by August 1, reflecting the respect that must be afforded to trading partners like the European Union and the United States, and the shared interests."
French Minister of Foreign Trade Laurent Saint-Martin raised the possibility of a proportional response from France, particularly regarding American goods and services, if Brussels does not reach a fair agreement with Washington.
The minister added via the X platform: "Starting from (Monday), I will work in Brussels with my 26 counterparts to support the Commission in its negotiations with the United States until August 1."
