يسارع كبار الشركاء التجاريين للولايات المتحدة خلال عطلة نهاية الأسبوع لإبرام صفقات تجارية، أو ممارسة الضغط من أجل الحصول على وقت إضافي، حيث أعلن الرئيس دونالد ترمب أنه سيُخطر نحو 12 دولة غداً بمستوى التعريفات الجمركية الجديد على صادراتها إلى الولايات المتحدة.
وصرح ترمب للصحفيين خلال عطلة الرابع من يوليو الجاري: «وقعتُ بعض الخطابات، وستُرسل يوم الاثنين، ربما 12 رسالة»، لافتاً إلى أن الرسائل تتضمن مبالغ مالية مختلفة، ومعدلات رسوم جمركية وبيانات مختلفة، نوعاً ما. وعندما طُلب منه تحديد الدول، قال: «سأُعلن عن ذلك يوم الإثنين».
وتشير تصريحات ترمب الأحدث إلى أن المحادثات لا تزال متقلبة، وأن الصفقات بعيدة المنال، قبل 3 أيام من الموعد النهائي الذي أعلنته الإدارة الأمريكية في 9 يوليو الجاري.
وكان من المفترض في الأصل أن تُرسل الخطابات في 4 يوليو الجاري، على أن يكون تاريخ فرض الرسوم الجمركية في 1 أغسطس القادم، بناءً على تصريحات ترمب السابقة، لكن المسؤولين الأمريكيين كانوا منشغلين بالمفاوضات خلال عطلة نهاية الأسبوع، بما في ذلك مع اليابان وكوريا الجنوبية والاتحاد الأوروبي والهند وفيتنام.
وبعد إعلان ترمب عن اتفاق مع فيتنام الأسبوع الماضي، قالت وزارة الخارجية الفيتنامية إن المفاوضين ما زالوا ينسقون مع نظرائهم الأمريكيين لوضع اللمسات الأخيرة على التفاصيل.
وبينما كان من المتوقع أيضاً التوصل إلى اتفاق مؤقت مع الهند، أشار مسؤولون في نيودلهي إلى موقف أكثر صرامة في الأيام الأخيرة، مهددين بفرض رسوم على بعض السلع الأمريكية رداً على الرسوم الجمركية المرتفعة التي فرضتها واشنطن على السيارات ومكوناتها.
وأعربت كوريا الجنوبية عن قلقها بشأن الرسوم الجمركية على السيارات، حيث ناقشت مع المسؤولين الأمريكيين تمديد الموعد النهائي في محاولة أخيرة لتجنب فرض رسوم أعلى.

Senior U.S. trade partners are rushing over the weekend to finalize trade deals or to exert pressure for additional time, as President Donald Trump announced he will notify about 12 countries tomorrow of the new tariff levels on their exports to the United States.
Trump told reporters during the Fourth of July holiday: "I signed some letters, and they will be sent on Monday, probably 12 messages," noting that the letters include various monetary amounts, tariff rates, and somewhat different statements. When asked to specify the countries, he said: "I will announce that on Monday."
Trump's latest statements indicate that talks remain volatile and that deals are elusive, just three days before the deadline set by the U.S. administration on July 9.
The letters were originally supposed to be sent on July 4, with the tariff imposition date set for August 1, based on Trump's previous statements, but U.S. officials were busy with negotiations over the weekend, including with Japan, South Korea, the European Union, India, and Vietnam.
After Trump announced an agreement with Vietnam last week, the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry stated that negotiators are still coordinating with their U.S. counterparts to finalize the details.
While a temporary agreement with India was also expected, officials in New Delhi have indicated a tougher stance in recent days, threatening to impose tariffs on certain U.S. goods in response to the high tariffs imposed by Washington on cars and their components.
South Korea expressed concern about the tariffs on cars, as it discussed with U.S. officials extending the deadline in a last-ditch effort to avoid higher tariffs.
