«سفراء الكتب».. ورشة تعزّز القراءة بوصفها ممارسة مجتمعية في جدة

The Jeddah Book Fair 2025 organized a workshop titled "Book Ambassadors: Celebrating Those Who Bring Books Closer," presented by Reem Al-Joufi, as part of the activities of the fair organized by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission.

The workshop highlighted the role of readers and cultural initiatives in transforming reading from an individual experience into a collective experience based on interaction and dialogue, emphasizing the importance of expanding the presence of books in the public space, making them a tool for communication and building shared awareness within the community.

Al-Joufi discussed intellectual models that addressed the history of reading and the human relationship with books, reviewing the works of author Alberto Manguel, including "The Art of Reading," "A History of Reading," "The Library at Night," and "With Borges," describing them as works that affirm the centrality of reading in shaping human consciousness and transforming the library into a space for reflection and cultural interaction.

The workshop witnessed notable interaction from the attendees, where initiatives and practical experiences aimed at promoting a culture of reading, building active reading communities, and enhancing the role of books as a means of knowledge and communication were presented and discussed.

This event is part of the Jeddah Book Fair 2025 program, which offered a range of cultural programs and activities over 10 days aimed at making reading a fundamental pillar in building a vibrant and interactive knowledge-based community.
