اختير السيناريست والمؤلف مدحت العدل رئيسا لمؤتمر أدباء مصر في دورته الـ37، معربا عن امتنانه لأعضاء الأمانة العامة على الثقة الكبيرة التي منحوه إياها، واصفا هذا الاختيار بالفخر والمسؤولية الثقافية الكبرى.

وأكد العدل في بيان صحفي، أن الدورة الحالية تأتي في وقت مهم للمجتمع المصري والمنطقة، موضحا أن المؤتمر يعد منصة حيوية للتلاقي بين الأدباء والمبدعين من مختلف المحافظات والأجيال، ويتيح الفرصة للحوار الثقافي والبناء على الإرث الأدبي المصري.
وأضاف أن الدورة الـ37 تسلط الضوء على دور الأدب والدراما كقوة ناعمة تعكس هوية وثقافة مصر، مشيرا إلى أنها تسهم في صون الهوية الوطنية وفتح آفاق الأمل أمام الأجيال القادمة.
وجاء انتخابه بأغلبية الأعضاء خلال الاجتماع الأخير لأمانة المؤتمر، الذي يستعد لإقامة فعالياته في نهاية العام الجاري تحت عنوان: «الأدب والدراما.. الخصوصية الثقافية والمستقبل»، مع اختيار الأديب الراحل محمد جبريل ليكون شخصية الدورة.

على جانب آخر، يستعد مدحت العدل لعرض مسرحية «أم كلثوم» التي يقوم بكتابتها وإنتاجها، والمقرر عرضها يوم 3 أكتوبر القادم على أحد مسارح مدينة السادس من أكتوبر بالقاهرة.
The screenwriter and author Medhat El Adl has been appointed as the president of the 37th Conference of Egyptian Writers, expressing his gratitude to the members of the General Secretariat for the great trust they have placed in him, describing this selection as a source of pride and a significant cultural responsibility.

El Adl confirmed in a press statement that the current session comes at an important time for Egyptian society and the region, explaining that the conference serves as a vital platform for the meeting of writers and creatives from various provinces and generations, providing an opportunity for cultural dialogue and building on the Egyptian literary heritage.
He added that the 37th session highlights the role of literature and drama as a soft power reflecting Egypt's identity and culture, noting that it contributes to preserving national identity and opening avenues of hope for future generations.
His election came with the majority of members during the last meeting of the conference's secretariat, which is preparing to hold its events at the end of this year under the title: "Literature and Drama... Cultural Specificity and the Future," with the late writer Mohamed Gibril chosen as the figure of the session.

On another note, Medhat El Adl is preparing to present the play "Umm Kulthum," which he is writing and producing, scheduled to be showcased on October 3rd at one of the theaters in 6th of October City in Cairo.
