سامر المصري: التهديدات دفعتني لمغادرة سورية 14 عاماً

The Syrian artist Samer Al-Masri confirmed his departure from Syria for 14 years after facing threats from the previous Syrian regime, which sought to involve artists in political conflicts.

Al-Masri talked about his first moments in Syria after a 14-year absence, saying: "I cried intensely as soon as the plane landed at Damascus Airport," and despite my attempts to hold myself together, the moment was filled with emotion and nostalgia.

He added that despite the great destruction the country has witnessed, there is a unique energy emanating from the people, as well as feelings of tranquility and affection that he experiences while walking through the streets of Damascus, inhaling the scent of freedom that has been absent from the country for many years.

Al-Masri expressed his "wishes for the reconstruction of Syria and its return to its former status as a committed state with intellectual, cultural, and religious values."
