توفي الفنان الأمريكي جاك بيتس، أثناء نومه في منزله الواقع في مدينة لوس أوسوس بولاية كاليفورنيا، بحسب ما أعلن ابن شقيقه.
ويعد بيتس من أبرز نجوم هوليوود الذين تألقوا في أدوار شهيرة في أفلام «سبايدرمان» و«باتمان»، امتدت مسيرة جاك لتشمل مشاركات بارزة في أعمال تلفزيونية شهيرة مثل «Friends» و«Everybody Loves Raymond» و«My Name is Earl». وفور إعلان وفاته، انهالت رسائل التعزية من محبيه وزملائه.
ولد جاك في ميامي عام 1929، ودرس المسرح وشارك في عروض برودواي، منها مسرحية «ريتشارد الثالث» لشكسبير. ورغم شهرته في التلفزيون والسينما لاحقاً، فإن العديد من أفلامه في بداياته لم تُعرض في الولايات المتحدة أو كندا، ما صعّب عليه الانتشار في تلك الأسواق.
و كشف جاك في مقابلة عام 2021 أنه كان يسكن بجوار النجم كلينت إيستوود في إحدى الفترات، قائلاً: «كان كلينت في الفندق المجاور لي، يذهب إلى الجبل لتصوير أفلامه، وأنا كذلك. لكن أفلامه كانت تُعرض في كل أنحاء العالم، أما أفلامي فكانت تُوزع في كل مكان ما عدا كندا وأمريكا».
The American actor Jack Bates passed away in his sleep at his home in Los Osos, California, according to his nephew.
Bates is considered one of Hollywood's prominent stars, shining in famous roles in films like "Spider-Man" and "Batman." Jack's career also included notable appearances in popular television shows such as "Friends," "Everybody Loves Raymond," and "My Name is Earl." Upon the announcement of his death, condolences poured in from his fans and colleagues.
Jack was born in Miami in 1929 and studied theater, participating in Broadway productions, including Shakespeare's "Richard III." Despite his later fame on television and in film, many of his early movies were not shown in the United States or Canada, making it difficult for him to gain traction in those markets.
Jack revealed in an interview in 2021 that he lived next door to star Clint Eastwood for a time, saying: "Clint was at the hotel next to mine, going up the mountain to shoot his films, and so was I. But his films were shown all over the world, while my films were distributed everywhere except Canada and America."
