Stray dogs in Dhahran Al-Janub, part of the Asir region, have become a source of concern for the residents of Dhahran Al-Janub, following an increase in their presence in the streets, valleys, parks, and recreational areas. They fear that the danger may extend to attacks on individuals, amid calls for urgent interventions from the relevant authorities to curb their spread and reproduction.
Saleh Osman, Khalid Jabran Al-Wad'i, Mansour Gharban Al-Kharsan, and Saeed Mohammed Al-Wad'i told "Okaz": The spread of stray dogs has become a danger to pedestrians in the streets, especially in the eastern Rahib area, which has a high concentration of boys' and girls' schools, in addition to their presence in public parks and recreational areas.
Repeated Disturbance
They explained that the dogs pose a threat to the elderly and women in the villages, especially as they search for waste and water sources, along with the repeated disturbances caused by their gatherings and barking. They pointed out that incidents have occurred in other provinces where children were attacked by stray dogs, resulting in serious injuries.
The residents urged the municipality and environmental authorities to quickly address the phenomenon, emphasizing the importance of utilizing available legal means to reduce the density of stray dogs and prevent their reproduction. They also called for not providing food and water to them and for reporting their gatherings through designated reporting numbers.
Implementation of the Program
Abdullah Al-Wad'ani hoped that the relevant authorities would take action before a child or an elderly man is injured while walking on the road.
