- When the foundations and main rules of any entity collapse, restoration becomes merely an attempt to fix what can be repaired, while the task of rebuilding anew appears more difficult and complex. When matters reach the point of collapse, addressing the accumulated errors cannot be done with mere painkillers, but rather with radical solutions that restore the foundation before thinking about completing the construction.
- When Saud Al-Harbi's administration was leading the Al-Ahly Club, we disagreed with them on one matter almost exclusively, which was the promotion of Al-Ahly's team to the professional league, while the club's situation at that time was largely good and stable. The main criticism of the administration was that they failed to gather the Al-Ahly supporters around one table and unify the ranks around the club.
- Achieving this may be difficult; talking in the open is easy, but working within clubs is tiring and arduous, and it is hard to find consensus on everything, especially in a popular club with a long history and a diversity of opinions and positions.
- But what happened after that? What happened was closer to sports disasters, from the administration that oversaw the club after Saud Al-Harbi's management. The football and basketball teams were dissolved, and the club sank into heavy debts, to the point that financial obligations resembled the budget of a club since its establishment. Many of the components of work ended, and large parts of the foundations upon which the club was built collapsed.
- At that time, we wrote and warned against reaching this stage, stating that the continuation of the situation in this manner would lead to painful results, but unfortunately, there was no response.
- There were multiple calls for the necessity to correct the club's situation and remove the current administration headed by Khalid Ruwaifid Al-Saadi, after they had taken their chance, without the hoped-for change occurring on the ground. But the most important question today is: Is the problem really just with the administration?
- The truth is that the legacy has become very heavy, and the task is not easy for any new administration. How can any administration bear this amount of debt, in the absence of the foundations and real components in the games of football and basketball, not to mention the weak budget and the need for comprehensive rebuilding?
- We are caught in a vicious cycle, searching for solutions but finding none, and even if the current administration resigns, will a new administration come with magical solutions? Can it save the club from the difficult situation it has reached?
- These are the questions we must ask sincerely, away from settling scores or looking for a scapegoat to hang all the mistakes on.
- Al-Ahly Club is not a transient club in the history of Medina; it is part of its modern history, an entity connected to its people, embracing its various social classes and components. The club was a space where the sons of the city gathered, creating a significant sports history through them, and thus what is happening to it today cannot be considered a transient sports matter.
- Al-Ahly deserves more, and unfortunately, the history of this ancient club has not been appreciated as it should have been, until many of its foundations were destroyed, leading to its current state.
- I have personally reached a stage where I hear the echo of my voice and find no one to respond, due to the volume of what I have written about Al-Ahly and my warnings about its reality. I have written a lot, we have talked a lot, and we have called for solutions, but silence has been the dominant situation, while some watched the collapse from a distance.
- What is even more difficult is that there are those who treated the club as a transit station or an opportunity to achieve personal interests, then appear from time to time to talk about their achievements and what they have offered to the club.
- We do not want a lot of talk, nor do we want anyone to boast about Al-Ahly's history or sing praises of what it has done in the past; we want real work.
- Al-Ahly is a great legacy, its glory, history, and stars were made by its loyal sons, not by flatterers, philosophers, or those with personal interests.
- We want an administration that can adopt a real project to rebuild Al-Ahly Club, an administration that possesses financial and administrative capability, can make difficult decisions, and restore this ancient urban club to the status it deserves.
- Al-Ahly has fallen from the top to this situation in a record time, and the return will not be easy, but it is not impossible.
- Bring back to us the knight of the city, but restoring this knight to his rightful place will not be through slogans, statements, or merely changing individuals; it will require radical solutions, a clear project, a strong administration, and real financial support.
- For money alone does not create success, but in modern sports, it represents one of the most important components of building a team and fostering competition.
- We want Al-Ahly to return to its previous status in basketball, that game in which it was a towering champion and had a significant presence, and we want the football team to return to the professional league, and for the stands of Al-Ahly to come back to life once again.
- The fans of the city love this entity because they do not see it as just a sports club, but as a part of their history, memory, and identity.
- What is useful is that the voice does not matter if the moment has passed... Perhaps the time has not yet passed, but saving Al-Ahly requires that we all realize that time is not on our side, and that continuing to spin in the same circle will not bring back the knight of the city.
- What is needed today is to stop searching for who is responsible and start looking for solutions.
- For Al-Ahly does not need someone to just talk about it; it needs someone to work for it, believe in its history, and have the ability to rebuild it. Is it time to restore the knight of the city to his rightful place?
