The late African leader Nelson Mandela mentioned in his memoirs that it is important for a person to confront their problems, because if they are not addressed, they will never leave you. In this regard, he recounted the story of a man who was troubled by evil spirits residing next to his house, causing constant unrest and disturbance for him, his family, and all the residents of the neighborhood. After losing hope in convincing them to cease their actions, he decided to abandon his house and leave the neighborhood. He loaded all the family members and belongings into the car and set off. One of his neighbors saw him and asked, "Where are you going?" Before he could speak and answer the question, a hoarse voice came from under the car saying, "We are leaving this neighborhood." The man and his neighbor were stunned, for that was the voice of one of those evil spirits, which our friend thought he had left behind in his abandoned house.
This story confirms to us that when countries face threats to their prosperity and security, they should not turn a blind eye or ignore them, but rather confront them with determination and resolve to eradicate their roots; otherwise, they will continue to suffer from them for ages.
Looking at the situation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, we find that it has been honored by the Almighty with the guardianship of the Two Holy Mosques and a strategic geographical location that connects three continents. It possesses numerous riches, the most important of which are security, stability, the unity of its people, and their loyalty to their homeland and leadership. It is no surprise, in light of this situation, that it is surrounded by some evil spirits from envious individuals who resent it for its blessings and seek to undermine its stability and security. Therefore, it cannot ignore what they plot against it; rather, it must deal with them with all determination and firmness to preserve its sovereignty.
Despite the large number of lovers of Saudi Arabia among the brothers in the surrounding Arab world, who appreciate its honorable positions, there are, unfortunately, hateful spirits manifested in some entities and individuals in the region at present. The most prominent of these can be identified in the following categories:
First: The Persians and their allies from the Houthi militias, Hezbollah, and terrorist militias in Iraq. The roots of evil in this group stem from the Persian ethnic enmity towards Arabs, not from the ideological conflict that Iran spreads to serve its malicious goals aimed at dominating and humiliating the Arab race. Their misguided Arab allies are akin to Abu Righal, the Arab guide for the army of Abraha. The Abyssinians did not know the location of the Kaaba, and whenever they brought an Arab guide to show them the way, he refused. Only Abu Righal accepted this task out of greed for money, but he died on the way when they reached a place called Al-Maghmas and was buried there. The Arabs would stone his grave whenever they passed by it because he is considered a symbol of betrayal. Therefore, Saudi Arabia is not to be blamed if it fights the "Abu Righal" of the Houthis and their ilk and supports the legitimate Yemeni government to prevent Yemen from falling under Iranian influence and turning its land into platforms that threaten its security and sovereignty.
Second: Those with sickness in their hearts who deceive and spread corruption on earth. While Iran is the main supporter of the Houthi group in Yemen, there are specific Arab entities linked to it through accusations and international reports indicating their support for the Houthis with money, weapons, and political cover, as well as sowing seeds of discord and corruption among the Yemeni people, serving Iran's and Israel's plans. These agents, who harbor hatred towards Saudi Arabia and deny its favors upon them, will be exposed regardless of how much they insist on denial and deception. As U.S. President Abraham Lincoln said, "You can fool some people all the time, and all people some of the time, but you cannot fool all people all the time." Historical evidence confirms that those who follow the path of deception always face humiliation and dire consequences. The story of the minister Ibn Al-Alqami who handed over the keys of Baghdad to the Tatars, the history of the Qaramita, and the fate of the kings of the Taifa in Andalusia are some examples. The tragedy is not only that deceivers harm themselves, but worse is their continued delusion, unaware that they are the losers. Such individuals must be confronted with determination and firmness, and Saudi Arabia should deal with them openly before their peoples, with the logic that if you are not with me, you are against me. An apparent enemy is much better than a deceitful friend. It is time to reconsider and evaluate the limits and degrees of dealings with the regimes of those entities, organizations, and councils that share membership with them, as the variables and leaderships that established them have changed.
Third: Those who say what they do not do, and they are many. The calamities that have befallen the Arabs have only increased when words became cheap and actions costly. The support from their countries for those who suffer from calamities and aggressions has been limited to statements of condemnation and protests. In this context, the saying of Allah Almighty applies to them: ﴿O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do?*Great is hatred in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do﴾ (As-Saff: 2-3). This necessitates that Saudi Arabia strives in the future to foster a deeper and greater relationship between individuals in its Arab surroundings, rather than just between states. Many of those countries, which may have had their will and governance taken from them, still have their peoples retaining their noble creed and values, aware of what they aspire to and fear.
Saudi Arabia will remain, with God's help, always secure and proud, with its people esteemed, under the determination and firmness of its leadership. Those who believe that the battle it is currently fighting is only its own are mistaken. It is defending the dignity and pride of the Arab nation, and time will prove that. We must not overlook the importance of intensifying cooperation among honorable Arabs to ward off the seeds of discord sown by Saudi Arabia's primary enemy, Zionism and its allies. They have grown more hateful towards it for rejecting normalization in defense of the rights of the Palestinian people. They now gloat over the state of the Arabs, poised to pounce on them and seize their lands, wealth, and dignity.
Conclusion: From the words of the poet Amer Ibn Nawatān Al-Murri:
Children of Arabism, your goods are cheap
What they desire to sell and the buyer is in it
Truth is with loyalty and honesty
In the market, it has failed; no one cares for it
Whoever lives in this world without esteem
Ends up a lowly person; his life is not enjoyed
And whoever loves a people whose religion is different from his
Walks in the ways of their religion and is guided by it
Nothing changes except God; He does not change a people
Until they change what is in themselves
