A person does not need to be an astronaut to discover that space is present in the details of their daily life. Their phone, the navigation system in their car, weather images, and even much of the information we use without thinking about its source are, in one way or another, linked to satellites and space technologies.
However, a person's knowledge of space applications does not necessarily mean they understand its sciences. This is where the problem lies; a news report about a space mission or an image of a planet may spark curiosity, but they are not enough on their own to understand a vast world of sciences and technologies.
Therefore, the "Space Knowledge" initiative launched by the Saudi Space Agency seems essential, as it attempts to bring space sciences closer to people, rather than keeping them confined to specialists.
The portal does not present knowledge in just one way. There is the "Space Encyclopedia," which presents scientific topics in a simplified manner, awareness resources that include publications, images, educational presentations, and videos that explain information in different ways, along with games and interactive activities that make children and students partners in discovering information, rather than just recipients of it.
This diversity is important; a child may be attracted to a game about the solar system, a student may be intrigued by information about satellites, while an interested individual finds material that drives them to research and expand their knowledge. Often, scientific passion does not start from a book or a curriculum, but from a simple question that opens the door to bigger questions.
Moreover, raising awareness about the space sector is just as important as developing the sector itself. The more the community knows what this sector does, how its technologies serve our lives, and what scientific fields are related to it, the more capable it becomes of recognizing the opportunities it can provide for new generations.
"Space Knowledge" is an educational experience that deserves attention, not only because it talks about space, but because it tries to make related knowledge accessible to everyone, in a way that suits different ages and interests!
The road to space does not always start from a launch pad... it may begin with a child who saw a game about planets, or a student whose curiosity was piqued by a question, or a young person who discovered for the first time that their professional future might be there, far from Earth!
In short... the Saudi Space Agency is the gateway to Space Knowledge!
