With the "joke" from the President of America about the Strait of Hormuz, I couldn't help but summon thoughts, old tales, legends, philosophies, and endless anecdotes.
I don't have a schedule guiding me through what I am facing this week, although there are spots of light illuminating my mind that I have many appointments with friends to meet in literary cafés, where trivial matters are discussed, and the trivialities or the old popular cafés that celebrate stories and jokes flow freely without restraint.
I don't know what the pages of tomorrow hold; what will I do tomorrow? I don't know.
By the way, I am not random; rather, I am very committed to my responsibilities hanging around my neck, while there are issues I pass by without much thought. The constant in my imagination - like a cornerstone - is writing stories and tales and reading them as they are written by the great novelists, or digging into the tales produced by popular imagination or their equivalents. In these readings, I deduced that the tales of One Thousand and One Nights, as well as the tales of Kalila and Dimna, the fables of Aesop, and Alice in Wonderland are all stories that breed from one another. Although I previously thought that Arab myths were imported from the West, Dr. Fadel Al-Rubaie restored my insight through his numerous books on mythology, where he asserted that global myths are the legitimate offspring of the Arabian Peninsula that traveled from a very ancient time to the West, until memory weakened and those tales were retrieved, claiming that their true origin is the Arabian Peninsula.
I spend my day moving between news channels, all of which amplify reality or inflate everything. The new map of Israel brought to mind the story of the wolf and the lamb from Aesop, and I found no measure that defined that map except for the measure of a span and two spans. I refrained from measuring and began to remember my responsibilities that must be accomplished. I recalled the article for tomorrow (Sunday) that I had not written, so I paused for a moment to choose the idea I would write about. However, an urgent appointment with the neighborhood café required me to go there. I was driving the car, my head heavy with the idea of returning to the popular cafés that allow for the telling of flowing jokes, so I turned my car to search for an old café that serves "Hajar Ba'ashan." All the old cafés spun in my mind, and I remembered that they had been removed. Truly, I have no choice now but to wait for the evening to go to a café that flows with literature of a crumbling quality... and I remained in a state of indecision, whether to go or not to go.
