تقول الهيئة العامة للطرق، إنها حققت نسبة التزام بلغت ٩٨,٧٥٪ في تطبيق متطلبات السلامة على التحويلات المرورية المنفذة على شبكات الطرق في المملكة خلال عام ٢٠٢٥، في مؤشر يعكس تعزيز كفاءة إدارة الحركة المرورية أثناء تنفيذ أعمال الصيانة والتطوير، والحد من تأثيرها على مستخدمي الطرق !
لا أعلم ما إذا كانت الطرق المؤدية إلى مكان سكني والمحيطة به، وكذلك مقر عملي في مدينة الرياض، تقع ضمن نسبة الـ١,٢٥٪ المتبقية، لأن الواقع أن الحركة المرورية تعاني من الاختناق والارتباك في معظم أعمال الطرق وتطويرها، بل إن طريق الملك في جدة، الذي شهد في السنوات الأخيرة تحسناً في انسيابية حركته، عاد مؤخراً إلى الاختناق مع بعض أعمال التطوير !
لا أختلف مع الهيئة في أن هناك جهوداً جادة للتعامل مع الوضع الراهن، الذي قد يصعب حلحلته بصورة مثالية بسبب حجم الأعمال المنفذة، والتي يتحملها الجميع على أمل أن تكون نتائجها في صالح حل أزمة الحركة المرورية، وتخفيف الزحام على معظم الطرق الرئيسية، خاصة في أوقات الذروة التي تتمدد باستمرار، لكن مسألة الـ٩٨,٧٥٪ فيها نظر، بل نظران وثلاثة، ولن تقنع السائقين وركابهم الذين يسلكون هذه الطرق يومياً !
في الحقيقة، كثير من الاختناقات المرورية سببها سوء معالجة التحويلات والمنعطفات، حيث تختنق المسارات عند أعناق الطرق، وتفتقر أحياناً إلى تلبية احتياجات الدوران، مما يؤدي إلى ترحيل الزحام إلى نقاط أبعد !
باختصار.. أنا مستبشر بنتائج الأعمال الجارية لتطوير الطرق ومحاورها، ومستعد للصبر في سبيل حصاد نتائجها، لكن لا تحاولوا إقناعي بهذه النسبة المثالية أو لنقل «الخيالية» !
The General Authority for Roads states that it has achieved a compliance rate of 98.75% in applying safety requirements on traffic diversions implemented on road networks in the Kingdom during 2025, a figure that reflects the enhancement of traffic management efficiency during maintenance and development works, and reducing its impact on road users!
I do not know whether the roads leading to my residence and surrounding it, as well as my workplace in Riyadh, fall within the remaining 1.25%, because the reality is that traffic suffers from congestion and confusion in most road works and their development. In fact, King’s Road in Jeddah, which has seen improvement in traffic flow in recent years, has recently returned to congestion due to some development works!
I do not disagree with the authority that there are serious efforts to address the current situation, which may be difficult to resolve ideally due to the scale of the executed works, which everyone endures in the hope that their results will help solve the traffic crisis and reduce congestion on most main roads, especially during peak times that are continuously extending. However, the matter of 98.75% is questionable, indeed it raises questions upon questions, and it will not convince drivers and their passengers who use these roads daily!
In reality, many traffic congestions are caused by poor handling of diversions and turns, where lanes become congested at the necks of roads, and sometimes lack the necessary provisions for turning, leading to the transfer of congestion to further points!
In short.. I am optimistic about the results of the ongoing road development works and their axes, and I am ready to be patient in order to reap their results, but do not try to convince me of this ideal or let’s say “fantastical” percentage!
