The latest data from the General Authority for Statistics indicates continued growth in several economic sectors, foremost among them the manufacturing industry, which recorded an annual increase in operating revenues of 9.6% during May 2026. This reflects the expansion of the Kingdom's production base and confirms that more Saudi companies now possess products and services capable of competing internationally!
However, success in production does not necessarily mean success in exporting, as expansion into global markets is not solely linked to product quality but also requires the ability to manage the risks associated with international trade!
Perhaps the greatest limitation on some companies' willingness to export is the fear of non-payment risks, especially when dealing with new markets or unknown buyers. Therefore, risk management has become an essential part of global competitiveness and one of the enablers that gives companies the confidence to enter new markets and expand their operations without bearing all the commercial and political risks alone.
Thus, major exporting economies rely on specialized government institutions that provide export credit insurance tools, considering them part of the national export empowerment system, not just a financial service. These tools protect exporters and contribute to enhancing the confidence of financiers and buyers, opening wider horizons for companies to expand and grow!
In the Kingdom, the Saudi Export-Import Bank plays this role through a comprehensive system that includes financing local exporters, financing international importers, providing export credit insurance, securing documentary credits, and other solutions aimed at empowering non-oil Saudi exports!
The bank's results reflect the impact of this system, as the total exports covered by export credit insurance reached 32.53 billion riyals during 2025, with a growth of 51% compared to the previous year. The bank also contributed 7.65% of the total credit facilities provided for non-oil exports, and signed 93 agreements and memorandums of understanding with local and international partners, enabling exports through it to reach more than 150 countries worldwide!
In short, the ability to export is no longer measured by product quality as much as by possessing the tools that make expansion safer and more sustainable, which makes export credit insurance one of the most important enablers to enhance the competitiveness of the Saudi economy and achieve the targets of Saudi Vision 2030!
