أتخيّل أن الرئيس الجديد للاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم يصل إلى مقر الاتحاد في أول يوم..
يصافح الموظفين، يلتقط الصور، ثم يشير إليه أحدهم قائلًا: «تفضل.. هذا مكتب الرئيس».
يجلس خلف المكتب، يفتح الدرج، فيجد ملفًا أصفر قديمًا، كُتب على غلافه: «الخطة.. يُسلَّم للرئيس الجديد».
يفتح الملف، فتستقبله الجمل التي نحفظها جميعًا: سنطوّر المنتخبات، سنبني قاعدة للمواهب، سنعيد الهيكلة، وسنضع استراتيجية طويلة المدى.
يغلق الملف، ويبدأ المؤتمر الصحفي، والغريب أننا نعرف ما سيقوله، حتى إننا نستطيع أن نكمل المؤتمر بدلًا عنه.
المشكلة ليست في التخطيط، ولا أحد يعارض أن يكون لدى أي رئيس مشروع واضح.
المشكلة أننا أصبحنا نحتفل بإعلان الخطة أكثر مما نحتفل بتحقيق البطولات.
واليوم، وبعد ما يقارب ثلاثة وعشرين عامًا لم يعد ينقص الجماهير السعودية أن تسمع كلمة «خطة»، فقد أصبحت خبيرة في الخطط، لكنها ما زالت مبتدئة في الاحتفال بالبطولات.
لذلك.. على رئيس الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم ألا يفتح ذلك الدرج، بل يفتح لنا دولاب البطولات.
أربع سنوات، أربع سنوات فقط، لا نريد خلالها رئيسًا يحمل ملفَ خطةٍ تحت ذراعه، نريد رئيسًا يحمل بطولة بين يديه.
I imagine that the new president of the Saudi Football Federation arrives at the federation's headquarters on his first day..
He shakes hands with the employees, takes pictures, and then one of them points to him saying: “Please, this is the president's office.”
He sits behind the desk, opens the drawer, and finds an old yellow file, with the cover stating: “The plan.. to be handed over to the new president.”
He opens the file, and he is greeted by the phrases we all memorize: We will develop the national teams, we will build a talent base, we will restructure, and we will set a long-term strategy.
He closes the file, and the press conference begins, and strangely enough, we know what he will say, to the extent that we could complete the conference for him.
The problem is not in the planning, and no one opposes any president having a clear project.
The problem is that we have started to celebrate the announcement of the plan more than we celebrate winning championships.
And today, after nearly twenty-three years, the Saudi fans no longer need to hear the word “plan,” as they have become experts in plans, but they are still beginners in celebrating championships.
Therefore.. the president of the Saudi Football Federation should not open that drawer, but rather open for us the cabinet of championships.
Four years, just four years, during which we do not want a president carrying a plan file under his arm, we want a president holding a championship in his hands.
