Despite the fact that perfume has remained a symbol of luxury and elegance, the markets of the Kingdom, especially in the city of Riyadh, are now overflowing with hand-blended perfumes sold widely in malls and popular markets like Al-Muqayliah and Al-Thumairy Street, without any precise oversight or professional licenses for blending perfumes or guarantees on their ingredients... where it has become a profession for those who have no profession..
What is happening is the marketing of perfumes that are often blended in unhealthy conditions, by unskilled labor, and using alcohols and chemicals that may be harmful to public health... With the absence of strict supervision from the Ministry of Commerce, the unjustified silence from the Ministry of Health, and the lack of qualification from the Ministry of Human Resources, the result is a chaotic market that threatens the skin, respiration, and hormones...
Did you know that these hazardous ingredients can cause infertility! They can cause cancer! They can have catastrophic effects on the lungs!
4 components -gentlemen- in perfumes are dangerous and very dangerous, the most important of which are:
1. Phthalates: Used to fix the scent, but they are known for their ability to disrupt hormones, affect fertility, and may cause infertility, and can be absorbed through the skin directly into the bloodstream.
2. Synthetic musk: A cheap alternative to natural musk, containing compounds that may accumulate in body tissues, and some types are classified as carcinogenic or endocrine disruptors.
3. Formaldehyde: Used as a preservative, but it is a globally recognized carcinogen, causing skin and respiratory inflammations, and may lead to suffocation in asthma patients.
4. Benzene: A fragrant component that gives a "distinctive smell," but it is one of the most dangerous carcinogenic substances, linked to an increased risk of leukemia and respiratory problems.
The scene is frightening... and the solution is not complicated; what is required is to learn from the experiences of the world in regulating the perfume blending (which many use as a term to refer to blending rather than manufacturing to avoid government violations):
• A mandatory official licensing sticker on every blended perfume bottle, indicating its ingredients, source of alcohol, production and expiration dates, and the name of the responsible technician..
• Activation of a professional code for the profession of "Perfume Blending Technician," preventing practice for those who do not hold a license and qualification.
• Immediate pursuit of establishments that do not comply with health and commercial licenses.
What is sold today under the name of "luxury perfume at a low price" is often a toxic mixture that causes cumulative harm to health... This reality will not change except with an effective regulatory system that protects people and puts an end to this health and commercial chaos..
The smell of danger is not sensed... but it silently destroys...
