The U.S. authorities arrested a Venezuelan citizen who was found inside a stolen vehicle with several firearms in his possession, near the White House complex in Washington, D.C., after the Department of Homeland Security charged him with threatening President Donald Trump and attempting to reach the capital to carry out his threat, according to official statements and court documents.
According to abcNEWS, a criminal complaint filed in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia stated that a Secret Service officer on patrol around the White House spotted a blue Ford F-150 parked on Constitution Avenue shortly before midnight on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
When the officer approached the vehicle and knocked on the window, he asked the driver, identified as Rony Guanyba-Crenos, if he was okay and if he was carrying any weapons. The man nodded in the affirmative and then pointed his finger in the shape of a gun, according to the complaint's affidavit.
Firearms and ammunition inside a stolen vehicle
The documents indicated that after exiting the vehicle, the suspect communicated with investigators through the Google Translate app, stating, "I carry the weapon because they tried to kill me with it, and I had to take it from them, it's in the brown bag."
Authorities found a MAC-10 submachine gun, a Glock 43x pistol, and an AR-15 rifle inside the vehicle, along with dozens of rounds of ammunition, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Investigations revealed that the vehicle he was sitting in had been reported stolen, which added further criminal charges to the case.
Threats to kill Trump
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security stated that Guanyba-Crenos informed the officers that he heard voices in his head urging him to go to Washington, D.C., and kill President Donald Trump.
However, these statements attributed to him were not included in the criminal complaint filed with the court, which contained details about his discovery and the weapons found in the vehicle, necessitating a distinction between what the department reported and what was included in the court documents.
According to official records, the suspect was charged with using a vehicle without permission, possession of stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license, and carrying a rifle without a license, along with other charges related to firearm possession.
The defendant appeared for the first time before the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on Friday and remains in custody without bail, according to court records published online.
Entered the United States through Texas in 2024
The Department of Homeland Security reported that Guanyba-Crenos is residing in the United States illegally and that he entered the country through Texas in 2024.
This incident comes amid heightened security measures around the White House, as the Secret Service is responsible for protecting the president and securing the surrounding area of the presidential complex.
