The mystery of the dark night in July 2000 hung in the air for more than two decades, after Ahmed Nabi, the governor of the Sidi Al-Aidi group and a prominent figure in the Moroccan resistance, disappeared immediately after performing the Maghrib prayer. The hours of waiting ended only with a tragedy, as his body was found filled with stab wounds inside his car, at a crime scene designed to mislead investigators into thinking it was a regular robbery after the radio and wallet were hidden.
But the illusion was shattered by the determination of his family, who did not give up. They embarked on a long journey for justice that took the family beyond the halls of local courts, knocking on the doors of successive Ministers of Justice and crossing borders all the way to the Élysée Palace in France, relying on the French nationality of one of the sons. In light of what was described as "fatal errors" at the crime scene (such as washing the car and destroying blood evidence), the family enlisted the help of an international French expert who unraveled the knot, confirming that the governor was brutally tortured elsewhere, and his body was moved to mislead, with strange DNA traces and threads leading to a network of real estate forgery and property theft targeting women whom the victim had supported during his life.
More than a quarter of a century passed in legal and security battles during which the blood demanded retribution, until the Court of Appeal in Settat settled the final chapter, bringing down the curtain with a strict ruling sentencing five defendants to a total of 140 years in prison, finally granting justice to the spirit of a fallen governor who was assassinated by treacherous hands after more than two decades of evasion.
