ضرب زلزال بقوة 5.2 درجة، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، بابوا غينيا الجديدة، دون ورود أنباء فورية عن وقوع إصابات أو خسائر مادية.
وأفادت بيانات هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية بأن مركز الزلزال وقع على بعد 66 كيلومتراً شرق مدينة كاينانتو، وعلى عمق نحو 125 كيلومتراً.
ووقع الزلزال عند الساعة 08:06 صباحاً بالتوقيت المحلي لبابوا غينيا الجديدة.
ولم يصدر عقب الزلزال تحذير من أمواج مد عاتية «تسونامي».
وتقع بابوا غينيا الجديدة ضمن منطقة «الحزام الناري» في المحيط الهادي، التي تشهد نشاطاً زلزالياً متكرراً.
A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck Papua New Guinea today (Tuesday), with no immediate reports of injuries or material damage.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the earthquake's epicenter was located 66 kilometers east of the town of Kainantu, at a depth of about 125 kilometers.
The earthquake occurred at 08:06 AM local time in Papua New Guinea.
No tsunami warning was issued following the earthquake.
Papua New Guinea is located within the "Ring of Fire" in the Pacific, an area that experiences frequent seismic activity.
