عاش سكان عدة مناطق في الجزائر ليلة كابوسية تحولت فيها مساحات واسعة من الغابات والمناطق السكنية إلى جحيم مستعر، بعدما اجتاحت ألسنة اللهب أجزاءً كاملة من ولايات جيجل وبجاية وتيزي وزو. ومشاهد الدمار التي خلفتها النيران بدت وكأنها لقطات من فيلم كارثي، غطاء نباتي أخضر تحول بالكامل إلى أرض سوداء مهجورة، وحيوانات ونشاطات زراعية نُسفت في لحظات، بينما بقيت حطامات السيارات والمحال التجارية المتفحمة شاهداً على سرعة انتشاط الحرائق وضراوتها.
الأزمة المروعة التي أسفرت عن اندلاع أكثر من 154 حريقاً في ظرف 24 ساعة فقط، أودت بحياة 12 شخصاً وأصابت نحو 54 آخرين بجروح وحروق متفاوتة، من بينهم حالات حرجة يرقد أصحابها داخل العناية المركزة. هذه الحصيلة الثقيلة دفعت الرئاسة الجزائرية إلى إعلان الحداد الوطني لمدة ثلاثة أيام وتنكيس الأعلام، بالتزامن مع إلغاء كافة الاحتفالات والمنافسات الرياضية، واستنفار كافة أجهزة الدولة وشحذ جهود الجيش الوطني الشعبي لمساندة فرق الحماية المدنية التي تخوض معارك ميدانية شرسة لإجلاء عشرات العائلات المحاصرة وإخماد بؤر النيران المتبقية.
وفي الوقت الذي تتواصل فيه التحقيقات الأمنية للوقوف على الأسباب الحقيقية خلف اندلاع هذه الحرائق المتزامنة، تسارع السلطات الحكومية الزمن للتكفل بالمتضررين وإغاثة القرى المنكوبة، وسط موجة تضامن شعبي واسعة تسعى لتجاوز آثار هذه الكارثة المؤلمة.
Residents of several areas in Algeria experienced a nightmarish night as vast expanses of forests and residential areas turned into a raging hell, after flames engulfed entire parts of the provinces of Jijel, Bejaia, and Tizi Ouzou. The scenes of destruction left by the fires looked like clips from a disaster movie, with green vegetation completely transformed into barren black land, and animals and agricultural activities obliterated in moments, while the wreckage of cars and charred shops stood as a testament to the rapid onset and ferocity of the fires.
The horrific crisis, which resulted in the outbreak of more than 154 fires within just 24 hours, claimed the lives of 12 people and injured around 54 others with varying degrees of wounds and burns, including critical cases whose owners are in intensive care. This heavy toll prompted the Algerian presidency to declare a national mourning period of three days and to lower flags, coinciding with the cancellation of all celebrations and sporting events, and mobilizing all state apparatuses and rallying the efforts of the People's National Army to support the civil protection teams engaged in fierce field battles to evacuate dozens of trapped families and extinguish the remaining fire hotspots.
While security investigations continue to determine the real causes behind the outbreak of these simultaneous fires, government authorities are racing against time to assist the affected and provide relief to the devastated villages, amidst a wide wave of popular solidarity seeking to overcome the impacts of this painful disaster.
