شهدت اليونان اليوم اندلاع 39 حريقاً جديداً في عدد من الغابات، كان أشدها في جزيرة سلاميس قبالة سواحل أثينا.
وأفادت وكالة الدفاع المدني أن هذه الحرائق تسبب بها الجفاف المستمر، مشيرة إلى أن درجات الحرارة في وسط أثينا بلغت 40 درجة مئوية.
ويتوقع أن تستمر موجة الحر الحالية حتى بداية الأسبوع القادم.
Greece witnessed the outbreak of 39 new fires today in several forests, the most severe of which was on the island of Salamis off the coast of Athens.
The Civil Defense Agency reported that these fires were caused by the ongoing drought, noting that temperatures in central Athens reached 40 degrees Celsius.
The current heatwave is expected to continue until the beginning of next week.
