ألقت السلطات الأمريكية القبض على أم تبلغ من العمر 26 عاماً في مدينة ميامي بولاية فلوريدا، بعد ظهورها في مقاطع مصورة صادمة وهي تشعل النار داخل منزلها وتسكب الشمع الساخن على ابنتيها، في واقعة انتهت بتوجيه اتهامات جنائية إليها.
وبدأت تفاصيل الواقعة بعدما استُدعيت فرق الإطفاء إلى منزل ميليزا كامبوس سانشيز إثر اندلاع حريق، قبل أن يعثر المحققون على مقاطع فيديو نشرتها الأم عبر حسابها على منصة «إنستغرام»، أمام نحو 55 ألف متابع.
وأظهرت المقاطع كامبوس سانشيز وهي ترقص داخل مطبخ منزلها مرتدية قناعاً فضياً، قبل أن تسكب مادة على كومة من الملابس وتشاهدها وهي تشتعل، فيما ظهرت في مقطع آخر وهي تسكب الشمع الساخن على جسدها.
لكن المقاطع الأكثر إثارة للقلق أظهرت الأم وهي تقطر الشمع المنصهر على ابنتيها، فيما كانتا تبكيان، بحسب ما أوردته السلطات في تفاصيل التحقيق.
وقالت الابنة الكبرى للمحققين إنها وشقيقتها شاهدتا والدتهما وهي تشعل النار داخل المنزل، كما رمت كوباً زجاجياً على الأرض أثناء الرقص، قبل أن تتمكن من إخماد الحريق باستخدام وعاء من الماء.
وخلال تفتيش المنزل، عثر المحققون على القناع الفضي الذي ظهرت به الأم في المقاطع، إلى جانب مادة قابلة للاشتعال وولاعة، وهي مضبوطات عززت رواية السلطات بشأن ملابسات الحريق والمقاطع المنشورة.
وتشير التحقيقات إلى أن الواقعة جاءت بعد أسبوع فقط من إبلاغ زوج كامبوس سانشيز، الذي كان منفصلاً عنها ويقيم لدى والديه، السلطات بمخاوفه على أطفاله، متحدثاً عن سلوكيات أثارت قلقه بشأن سلامتهما.
وبحسب إفادته، كانت زوجته قد حاولت الانتحار قبل فترة قصيرة من الواقعة، وهو ما دفعه إلى التواصل مع السلطات والإعراب عن مخاوفه على ابنتيه.
وكانت كامبوس سانشيز تنشر بصورة متكررة محتوى عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي يظهرها وهي ترقص وتمارس التمارين الرياضية، غير أن بعض منشوراتها أثارت مخاوف متزايدة.
ومن بين تلك المنشورات صور ظهرت فيها، في السادس من أغسطس، وهي تضع مسدساً في فمها، قبل أن تقول لاحقاً إن السلاح المستخدم كان مجرد لعبة.
وألقت السلطات القبض على كامبوس سانشيز، ووجهت إليها اتهامات تشمل إساءة معاملة الأطفال وإهمالهم، إضافة إلى إضرام حريق من الدرجة الأولى.
The American authorities arrested a 26-year-old mother in Miami, Florida, after she appeared in shocking video clips setting fire inside her home and pouring hot wax on her two daughters, an incident that ended with criminal charges against her.
The details of the incident began when fire crews were called to the home of Meliza Campos Sanchez due to a fire outbreak, before investigators found videos posted by the mother on her Instagram account, in front of about 55,000 followers.
The clips showed Campos Sanchez dancing inside her kitchen while wearing a silver mask, before pouring a substance on a pile of clothes and watching it catch fire, while in another clip she was seen pouring hot wax on her body.
However, the most concerning clips showed the mother dripping melted wax on her daughters while they were crying, according to what the authorities reported in the investigation details.
The eldest daughter told investigators that she and her sister saw their mother setting fire inside the house, and she threw a glass cup on the floor while dancing, before she was able to extinguish the fire using a container of water.
During the search of the house, investigators found the silver mask that the mother wore in the clips, along with a flammable substance and a lighter, which were evidence that supported the authorities' narrative regarding the circumstances of the fire and the posted clips.
The investigations indicate that the incident came just a week after Campos Sanchez's estranged husband, who was living with his parents, informed the authorities of his concerns for his children, speaking about behaviors that raised his worries about their safety.
According to his statement, his wife had attempted suicide shortly before the incident, which prompted him to contact the authorities and express his concerns for his daughters.
Campos Sanchez had frequently posted content on social media showing her dancing and exercising, but some of her posts raised increasing concerns.
Among those posts were pictures of her on August 6, where she was seen putting a gun in her mouth, before later stating that the weapon used was just a toy.
The authorities arrested Campos Sanchez and charged her with child abuse and neglect, in addition to first-degree arson.
